We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gabby B. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gabby B below.
Alright, Gabby B thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to be in the entertainment industry since I was just a little kid. I’ve always loved to sing and dance. Being born in Brazil and having a mother who was a Samba performer and music artist, I learned to dance as soon as I could walk, and began to sing shortly after. I would get deeply inspired by both my parents, as my dad was also in the entertainment industry as a professional martial arts master. I would go to all their shows and try to copy the moves they did. We would travel all the time from show to show, which gave me a feel of how life on the road would be. As I went through my school years, I was involved in different musical plays and drama clubs. Ultimately, when I moved to Florida during my sophomore year of high school, I began to seek out a true career as a singer and performer. When I turned 18, I began my music journey by testing the waters and recording a few cover songs. After some time and positive feedback from this, I began to transition into my own music and brand. I then knew that I had the opportunity to do something special and fulfill my dreams of singing and performing.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Gabby B, and I am a pop recording artist and performer. I was born in Brazil, raised in France, and now reside in South Florida. I speak three languages (Portuguese, French, and English) and can sing in a fourth (Spanish). I have been doing music professionally for about 3 and a half years now, although it has been a passion of mine my whole life. I was fortunate to find a team around me that was a major part of getting my start in the industry and has been pivotal in helping me throughout my career. With their guidance and support, together we have been able to accomplish many goals and break through various obstacles along the way. As for my style, I am a very visual type of artist and I love to express myself with my attire and my stage presence. I love to create my own rhinestone bras and wear them for many of my music videos, performances, and social media content that I do. I consider myself a performer because when I get on stage, I put on a show. I do belly dance, samba, street jazz, and many other styles of dance. I’m all about energy and good vibes! I believe everyone has their own uniqueness about themselves and that you should never change who you are for anybody else. I always tell my supporters to be you, do you, and wear whatever the heck you want!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My journey on social media has definitely been interesting. I began my profiles just for fun when I was younger, like most kids did. Initially, I built up a small audience just by posting and being myself. Once I began my music career, I began to rebrand my platforms. My goal was to make it aesthetically pleasing, while making sure those who landed onto my page would know who I am and what I do. It was then my goal to be posting relevant content every single day. I also joined as many new social platforms as I could. One of the newer platforms at the time was TikTok. Not knowing much about it at all, I decided to create an account. Shortly after posting some videos, I was able to gain traction on there at a rapid pace. It was a couple of months into the app, when I had my first viral video, which is now at 40 million views today. This launched my social media presence to a whole different level not just on TikTok, but other apps such as Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc. At that point, I knew I had to keep going and riding the momentum. Since then, I have been going ever since and continue to post on all my platforms on a daily basis. For those just starting out, I would say to find your niche and be consistent with it. Once you have something that works, keep at it. Don’t worry about people thinking that you only do one thing. You need to own your talent and continue to show it off post after post. One last tip: If people are hating on your content, that means you’re doing something right.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
For me, it’s all about making other people happy when they listen to my music. So many people go through different things in their lives, different hardships. If they’re like me, then music can be such a great escape when you need it most. Especially for the kids who are going through school, having relationships, moving in and out of different houses, and just trying to balance life. I know from my own experience how hard it can be growing up, and how much music was a huge factor in inspiring me to keep going. I’ve had kids reach out to me and say that my songs saved their lives. That right there is already rewarding enough and is enough motivation to never stop doing what I’m doing. You never know who’s out there listening to your music, getting inspired themselves to do great things!
