Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to G4 Jag. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
G4 Jag, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’m a Survivor. I survived Harlem and flourished in the late 80s early 90s til this day. I survived society and the thin line black men have to walk to exist in a world that creates a false narrative of fear for people who look like me. I survived 9/11 I was at 100 trinity place in my Junior year of Highschool, and had to break into a city bus for relief from the silica cloud that engulfed us. I survived the music industry successfully, From writing for major television shows like Empire, to putting my stamp on the mixtape market, to 16+ project releases since 2019. To surviving the construction industry and creating a pathway for black and brown people to create a lifestyle through the train in my classes I teach. I survived….

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got in to Hip hop from hanging around my friends in Highschool (iced out Ent) to joining Harlems Envy my creative collective from uptown Harlem (Salute Blizza, slim, easy, triz, jaywest, both fergs, the whole Harlems Envy Family) to creating my own movement Fly Family and being a signed artist to Flee Lord’s Lord Mobb. My passion for hip hop is relentless. Fly family was the vision that hip hop was inclusive to the family. We don’t just get fly, we ensure our entire family is fly ( from the drip, to the mental health, to spiritually) creating well rounded human beings through the family dynamic. That’s wha I represent.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Hip hop is one facet of my journey, I also am in learning and devolpment and the world of AI. I had to pivot from hip hop for my personal growth, but took all my skills from the stage to the classroom to captivate audiences. Now my story as a rap artist and 9/11 survivor is used to motivate the future of the construction industry. If I can do it, so can they!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Consistency is key, I have been the same person with some growth sprinkled into the equation. What does that look like? Dependability, Authenticity, and moving righteous. These are the practices that keep my brand reputable in a market as volatile as art is.
