We were lucky to catch up with Furqan Azhar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Furqan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you share a customer success story with us?
Azhar & Azhar Law firm recently had a client who was a citizen of India and was in the US on an H-4 dependent visa. Her spouse is on H-1B (professional work visa), and her child is a US citizen. She overstayed her status after her spouse’s employer failed to her file her H-4 extension on time, and so when she went for visa stamping abroad, she was denied the H-4 visa stamp. She hired another law firm to file her waiver, but after waiting for 1 year, the waiver was denied. She then hired Azhar & Azhar Law Firm to prepare a second waiver.
One of our attorneys, Furqan Sunny Azhar, prepared a new waiver application and emphasized the fact that she had no other immigration violations, was a person of good moral character, and more importantly that her spouse and children were suffering hardship in her absence. After the second waiver was pending for several months, the US Embassy abroad finally approved the case, paving the path for the family to be reunited in the U.S.
Furqan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Azhar & Azhar Law Firm is a family operated law firm. Furqan Sunny Azhar, Esq. and Farah Gopalani, Esq. are married, and Noaman Azhar, Esq. and Uzma Zafarullah, Esq. are married. We started the firm in 2009 and moved to our office in Allen, TX in 2017. Our primary focus is US Immigration Law, and since our attorneys are all the children of immigrants, the immigrant story is one that is central to us.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
It’s not necessary to accept every single case that walks through the front door. A good law firm will be selective about the cases that they take, since taking every case can be harmful to a law practice. Some cases do not always fit within the vision of the law firm, they can be overly time consuming or the client may not have the synergy with the attorney that is required for a successful case outcome. When our law firm is selective about the cases it takes, it allows our attorneys to dedicate more time to successful outcomes for our clients.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Referrals, because when the attorney achieves the right outcome on a case, the positive review will almost always generate more business.
