We were lucky to catch up with Frosti Jonsson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Frosti, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
For the longest time I have always wanted to be involved in music one way or another, write my own music, collaborate with other artists, produce music, and see musical ideas come to life. Making music is my creative outlet which keeps me somewhat sane!
Frosti, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an artist and producer spending most of my time producing, mixing and mastering music. I run URD MUSIK (www.urd-musik.com) and most of my clients and collaborators are independent artists. Many of them have seen some level of success licensing their music to music libraries who license music to film and tv while others are busy performing their music on stage. Making my clients happy makes me happy and super proud and seeing them succeed is my success.
When I take on a project or give advice I will be very honest with you and try my best to give you constructive advice and criticism. If asked to produce or mix a song and I feel it’s just not ready, I will try my best to guide you in the right direction so you can deliver better results and be better at what you dream to do. Maybe you need to work on the arrangements, maybe you need to work on the mix or maybe you need to step up the vocal performance. The music business is a very competitive and saturated business and you need to understand what you´re up against if you want to see success.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
Be of service and help others reach their goals and dreams and be better at what they want to do. It took a while for me to realize and understand that my contribution can have value to others and I don’t have to do everything for free. Realizing that changed everything, there’s a shift in mindset, you add goals to your dreams and you lay down a roadmap to reach those goals. I believe someone says that “a goal without a plan is just a wish” and that’s absolutely on point.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative in your experience?
Music has always been my passion and quite honestly I would argue music saved my life. Music is how I have been able to express myself, my thoughts and feelings, it’s a therapeutic process. But What I also discovered is that working with other artists is just as therapeutic to me as making my own music. So putting myself out there as a producer and a collaborator, helping others on their journey as artists, has been super fun and rewarding.
