We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Fritz Colinet a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Fritz, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
The best investment is when I invested in myself. I took control of my career, my business and my spirit. I had many challenges because there was a side of the business I didn’t know and I had to control everything. I never had an issue landing clients or growing the business. It was everything else that came with running the day to day. I researched, hired coaches and found out what was required of me in order to make my business and personal life balanced and fruitful.
I have a system that I call My Load and Open Cycles.
My Load
I first started with writing everything I do for the business (I mean everything!) It was over four pages long. It was an eye opener. Basically, I delegated any task under X dollar amount to my assistant or project manger. If it cost under X dollars I wouldn’t touch it at all! Trust me this works.
Open Cycles
Open Cycles are tasks I have started but haven’t completed. I create a list of my cycles and execute them as follows: 1)-things I need to get done in 3 days, 2)-things I need to get done in 1 week, and 3)-things I need to get done in month. This helps out a lot to organize my time, my commitments and my sanity.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I have always had a passion for art. Drawing and sketching came naturally to me. I was inspired by artists like Michael Angelo, Rembrandt, Dali and Pollock. I pursued my passion by attending Pratt New York, one of the most accredited art institutes in higher education. After college and cutting my teeth at a few agencies, my talent became recognized and a few doors started to open for me. I was the lead creative in the rebranding efforts for Lady Foot Locker, The Houston Open, Impact! Partners Financial, The Astorian, Jackson & Company, Grateful Mary Bloody Mary, Fully Raw Kristina, Car Pro, Pheonix IFS, Briggs True Texas Sauces and The Houston Dynamo, to name a few.
I have been building brands for over 25 years and my passion for doing so has led me to launch my own full-service branding & marketing agency, Retna Media Inc™, based out of Houston. Our creative team at Retna applies strategic communication principles to analyze, target and create brand campaigns with winning results. We are a multi-faceted branding agency offering professional services for Offline and Online marketing solutions. Retna Media is your go-to advertising agency for brand marketing.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Retna developed a corporate culture with a “whatever it takes” attitude and as a result our clients were able to reap the rewards of our dedication.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
