We were lucky to catch up with Friedman Twinkies recently and have shared our conversation below.
Friedman, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
One of the most unexpected problems about being in the industry is that most people don’t understand that you have to be flexible! A lot of the films do NOT have a call time until the night before, sometimes they notify you in the middle of the night.
An example is getting an email on a Saturday night that you are flying out the next morning on a 6:00a.m. flight! Our bags were not packed and nothing was ready. These little professionals made it happen and were off to make a movie!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Eitan, Matan, Ari and Yosef Friedman are 2 sets of twins in the same family. Eitan and Matan were born in Savannah, Georgia and Ari and Yosef were born in Atlanta, Georgia. Eitan and Matan got their acting career started in the Disney movie “Lady and the Tramp” where they played the flashback baby. Ari and Yosef’s first acting job was Marvel’s “WandaVision” where they played Baby Tommy and Baby Billy Maximoff in 3 episodes. After their start, they were contacted to do numerous jobs including 8 feature films, 17 short/student films, 6 television shows, 8 commercials, 3 music videos, 6 print jobs, 2 voiceovers and a PSA on no hitting. Eitan and Matan were SAG eligible by the age of 3. The boys are represented by Ivy Artists Management, East Coast Talent Agency, Eris Talent Agency and stay pretty busy. In their spare time they enjoy swimming, dancing, singing, soccer, gymnastics and playing with toys.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
We have had to unlearn on taking anything personal in the industry. If we do not book a job for a movie, it is not because we messed up on an audition or something that we did or did not do. Most of the time it is pairing up with the parents (actors), the right hair color, eye color, age, etc. The need the perfect match/look.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
It is most rewarding watching the boys work with some of the biggest names in Hollywood and they compliment the boys on their behavior and professionalism on the set for such a young age. Some of the people that the boys have worked side by side with are: Kirstie Alley, Sean Astin, Julianne Moore, Bette Midler, Sam Elliott, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Gillian Anderson, Kiefer Sutherland, Matt Damon, Robert Downey, Jr., Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt (just to name a few).
