We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Frederick Witherspoon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Frederick below.
Hi Frederick, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Fly Wear isn’t just a brand—it’s a movement with a purpose. The acronym FLY stands for Forever Loving Yourself, and that’s the heart of everything we do. My mission is simple yet profound: to encourage everyone to truly love themselves.
Self-love is transformative. When people feel good about how they look, their confidence grows, and that self-assurance allows them to love themselves on a deeper level. It’s more than clothing—it’s about empowering people to see their worth, embrace their uniqueness, and walk through life with their heads held high.
For me, this mission is personal. I’ve experienced firsthand how life can challenge your sense of self-worth, and I know what it feels like to rebuild and rediscover that love for yourself. Fly Wear is my way of helping others do the same. It’s a brand that represents resilience, confidence, and the journey toward self-love.
My goal isn’t just to make people look good—it’s to make them feel unstoppable, powerful, and unapologetically themselves. When you wear Fly Wear, you’re not just wearing clothes; you’re stepping into a mindset, a movement, and a mission to love yourself forever.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Fly Wear is more than just a brand—it’s a testament to my journey and the lessons I’ve learned through struggle, growth, and self-discovery. I come from the struggle, a reality that shaped me but never defined me. Growing up in tough circumstances, I made my share of wrong choices. Those choices weren’t easy to live with, but they taught me resilience, wisdom, and the importance of wanting more out of life.
One of the hardest things to develop when you come from the struggle is self-confidence. It’s something that isn’t handed to you—you have to build it, learn it, understand it, and most importantly, feel it. That’s where Fly Wear was born.
Fly Wear is a brand rooted in self-love and self-confidence. FLY stands for Forever Loving Yourself, and that’s the core of everything I create. My skincare line includes soaps, lotions, bath bombs, colognes, and perfumes—all made with organic ingredients designed to heal and nourish the skin. From moisturizing dry skin to soothing eczema, every product is handcrafted by me with herbs that promote antioxidants and healing.
But Fly Wear isn’t just about skin care. It’s about how you feel when you take care of yourself. That’s why I also design T-shirts, sweatsuits, and apparel to help people feel comfortable, confident, and stylish. When you wear Fly Wear, it’s not just fashion—it’s a statement. It’s a declaration that you’re proud of who you are, no matter what anyone else thinks.
The mission behind Fly Wear is simple: to help people feel good about themselves. When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you carry yourself differently—you walk with confidence, with pride, knowing you’re somebody. That’s what Fly Wear is all about: giving people the tools to love themselves and embrace their worth, from the inside out.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
Fly Wear is more than a skincare brand—it’s a symbol of growth, ambition, and self-made success. I didn’t start this journey with experience or expertise. In fact, the idea for Fly Wear was born out of a desire to create something meaningful, inspired by my girlfriend’s incredible success with her haircare line. She shared her accomplishments and passion, and it struck me: creating a skincare line would not only complement her work but also make us a true power couple.
At the time, I had no idea how to manufacture skincare products. I had no background in chemistry or product development, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I turned to YouTube, Google, and every other resource I could find to teach myself everything I needed to know. It was a steep learning curve. I went through countless failed batches of soaps and lotions—more than I care to admit—but every failure taught me something valuable. Each misstep brought me closer to creating products that people truly love.
Now, Fly Wear is a line of skincare products made with real organic ingredients, from oils to herbs, all handcrafted by me. Every product is designed to nourish the skin, heal issues like dryness and eczema, and leave people feeling incredible—inside and out. I’ve poured countless hours into perfecting formulas that not only work but also make people feel confident, comfortable, and proud of themselves.
Fly Wear isn’t just about skin—it’s about self-love. When you take care of yourself, you feel good, and that confidence radiates into every aspect of your life. For me, this brand represents resilience, determination, and the power of learning something from scratch to create a better future for myself and my family. It’s proof that with hard work, passion, and a willingness to learn, you can turn an idea into something extraordinary.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
There was a time when business was thriving—everything seemed to be going well. But then, life happened. Challenges arose, and business began to slow down. As life kept happening, it felt like I was stuck in a cycle I couldn’t break. No matter how much I wanted to focus on my goals, life had its own plans.
I had to face the reality that life doesn’t pause for anyone, and neither do its challenges. It was overwhelming, but I realized I had a choice: to let the weight of it all hold me down or to pick myself back up and start again.
And here I am now—starting my business over, almost like getting a new start in life. It’s not easy, especially when life never stops happening, but I’ve learned that persistence is the key. This new chapter is an opportunity to rebuild, to grow, and to take everything I’ve learned from the past and apply it to something even greater.
Starting over isn’t a setback—it’s a second chance. And while life will always keep happening, I’ve found strength in knowing that I can keep moving forward, no matter what.
