We recently connected with Frederick Germaine and have shared our conversation below.
Frederick, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I feel we all take some sort of risk in life whether it is big or small. One of the biggest risk I took was to step out on faith and independently publish my own creative works also known as love novels. To this day, I have never regretted it or had to look back as if I made the right choice.
From my early days, I always excelled academically in school. I loved to read and write versus playing sports. That’s not to say I was not good in sports but I preferred to use my brain over brawn. In high school, I was the kid who sat on the bleachers in gym class. Rather than play basketball with the other kids, I had my head in a good book or was performing some sort of creative writing exercise. When looking back, I’d say I was perfecting my craft.
After graduating in the top ranks of my high school class, I earned an academic scholarship to college. While, in college I majored in business. I always knew I wanted to be independent and own something that was mine but really didn’t know what type of business at that time. I took various and multiple business courses in economics, finance, accounting, and marketing. I figured a business major along with the courses I enrolled in would one day help me achieve my goal of being a business owner.
Once I earned my Bachelor’s degree in business, I worked in corporate America for roughly 15 years. I made a decent salary but more importantly, I wasn’t happy. Plus, early on I realize there was glass ceiling for minorities and women within the corporate America industry. One day, I decided to leave my job and do something I really loved and that was writing.
Since then, I written and independently published six best-selling love novels. My novels have sold all over the world and can be purchased in various languages on sites like Amazon. I’ve made countless people happy and thrilled through my creative works. But, more importantly, I’m doing something I love by simply deciding to take a risk.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an author and entrepreneur who has independently published my creative works through my own publishing company (Frederick Germaine Publishing). I feel in order to have full creative control, financial freedom and expressive rights being truly independent was the best path for me.
I write from a male-perspective, under the love and romance genre. I write under the romance genre as I believe love is universal and can be expressed everywhere. Everyone has at some point in their life experienced love, is looking for love, or is simply in love. Thus, I believe my romance novels can relate to nearly everyone all over the world.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Creating a work from passion or inspiration that others enjoy or can connect and relate to as well. As an artist or creative, you should do it for the love of your craft or gift. If you are just attempting to assign some sort of monetary gain for what you do and it doesn’t transpire, then eventually you’ll move on to something else.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Doing something I truly love and making people happy as well.
