Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Freddie Floyd Jr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Freddie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
When I started my writing journey, I was very excited, and I wanted everyone I knew to be just as enthusiastic as I was, but I learned quickly that this was not real. My close friends weren’t supporting me in the way I hoped they would. I realized people you are close to will help you when it benefits them. They will give you the word congratulations; however, you will notice most don’t support you, which was a hard pill to swallow early on in my career. Not to say that is everyone, but I have learned that strangers tend to support you faster than your friends and family.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was born and raised in South Ga, second oldest to Freddie & Cathy Floyd. I got into the Church at an early age. I went on to join the military and traveled the world. I crossed paths with a young lady named Dawn Gregory, a great author in her own right, and she influenced me to begin my writing journey. She has written serval books as well, and you can find her on Amazon. I write Inspirational books. As of this Interview, two of the three books I have written have become best sellers on Amazon: God’s Gift Woman and The Mental Fight Of Your Life. I am hungry for more. I desire to become a New York Times Best Seller, so I have my work cut out. My writing style sets me apart from others. I have been given the gift to write in a way that truly resonates with others, so I have been told. My fourth book, It’s Time to Grow, should be out by the time this interview is live. I truly believe in this project, and it will indeed bless you. You can find me on IG for those who have it @MR_FLOYDJR. Also, my books are on Amazon & Barnes & NobleNoble

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I wrote my first book in 2020, and I thought that was it I had made, but I was so wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I sold about 100 copies between family and friends, but I didn’t realize how challenging it was to get the word out about my project. Marketing is the real solution to getting your name out if you’re not well known, and it costs hundreds and sometimes thousands because I am what they call a self-published Author. I was just fortunate that God allowed me to have a decent-paying job where I could come up with the funds to assist.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
When you have a dream or vision from experience, you first need to keep it to yourself because people will try everything they can to stop you from moving to the next level. Work on your dreams and goals in silence, and when you are complete, then spring on people; they can’t kill something that is already in the established
