We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fred King. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fred below.
Fred, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success is not an easy thing. Behind any success story, there’s a lot of hard work, failure, and persistence. It’s never an overnight achievement. Speaking from my own experience, and from conversations with other successful entrepreneurs I stay in touch with, the common thread is resilience. We all hit setbacks, but it’s about how you bounce back from those challenges that really defines success.
It takes a clear vision, the ability to adapt, and an unwavering belief in what you’re building. You’ve got to be willing to put in the long hours, learn from your mistakes, and keep moving forward, no matter how tough it gets.
Another key factor is surrounding yourself with the right people. Nobody gets there alone—having a strong team and a network of like-minded individuals can be the difference between giving up and pushing through. Ultimately, success comes from grit, patience, and the ability to keep going when others might stop.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always been passionate about both tech and music, and I’ve spent years growing within those two areas. In tech, I started my career in development, eventually working at Apple. While that was a great experience, I realized that blockchain was an even more fascinating and unexplored space. That’s when I decided to shift my focus and founded CryptoSnake. CryptoSnake is now a go-to source for educational content about blockchain and one of the best places to find crypto deals. Our website, cryptosnake.business, and our YouTube channel, which has more than 40K subscribers, serve as platforms for crypto enthusiasts to learn and engage with the industry. We aim to demystify blockchain technology and make it accessible to a broader audience.
On the music side, I’ve built a music management company, MS, that’s dedicated to helping artists. We’ve connected thousands of musicians with music streaming editors, including two of the top 100 artists in the world. In total, we’re proud to work with over 300 independent artists, helping them navigate the industry and get the recognition they deserve. As a professional hobby, I continue to pursue my personal music project, MusicSnake, which has garnered over 115K subscribers on YouTube.
What sets my work apart is the blend of technology and creativity. Whether it’s through CryptoSnake, where I help people understand and engage with blockchain, or MS, where I assist artists in growing their music careers, my focus is always on helping others achieve their goals. I’m proud of the impact my work has had, and I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know that both CryptoSnake and MS are built on the idea of creating value and empowering others.
We’d appreciate any insights you can share with us about selling a business.
Yes, I’ve sold a business before. In 2016, I sold two online publications that had a combined audience of over 12 million unique monthly users. While I can’t share all the details, I was really happy with the outcome, especially because I built both websites from the ground up. I hired every person involved, and it was my first significant achievement as an entrepreneur.
One key lesson I learned from that experience is that if you’re planning to sell a business, sell it when it’s at the top of its success. Both of my startups were profitable when I decided to sell, which made it an easy decision for the buyer. When a business is thriving, it becomes much more attractive, and the process moves faster.
For entrepreneurs hoping to sell their businesses one day, I’d recommend focusing on growth and profitability—make sure you’re in a strong position before even thinking about selling.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
When it comes to managing a team and keeping morale high, I believe communication and trust are key. It’s important to keep the lines of communication open, so everyone feels heard and knows their contributions matter. Whether you’re leading a small team or a large one, showing appreciation for their hard work goes a long way.
Another big factor is giving people the freedom to take ownership of their roles. When team members feel empowered and trusted to make decisions, it boosts their confidence and engagement. I also think it’s crucial to create a positive environment where people feel supported, not just in their work but also personally. Acknowledging wins, even the small ones, and addressing challenges with transparency helps keep morale high.
Finally, lead by example. If you show up with energy, focus, and a positive attitude, your team will follow. It’s about creating a balance between productivity and well-being, where people feel motivated and valued.
