We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Frankline Kadima a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Frankline, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I got my first client through social media. Our first client made a booking through instagram
Frankline, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a journalist by profession. I fell in love with nature after a did a feature about African ecosystem. Our docu-feature highlighted about Kenya’s rich wildlife as a resources that add foreign cash to the national grid. I fell in love with wildlife. I decided to to volunteer as a camera person for a tour companys. This helped me learn more about East African tourism. The rest is History. After learning and equiping myself with enough information i decided to register my own company and now here we are
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
After setting up by business, setting up an office and creating a website and employing people to help in the day to day running of the business and we even bought tracks for safari, one two three four and even five and six month no single business was coming through then you have the office is there to maintain including paying the workers. We never gave up building a brand and today the rest is history. I never gave up investing in my passion
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that business never comes from people you know. When we started the business, we had hopes of support from getting clientele support from Friends as they say first marketing starts with friends and relatives none came through
And so i had to unlearn that notion that when starting business your first clientele will be your close people
