We recently connected with Frankie Rivera and have shared our conversation below.
Frankie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My entire life my parents have always supported my creativity which has been a blessing for me. Ever since I was little, I would be mesmerized by fashion, art, and music. Their support led me to pursue a degree in fashion design at the University of The Incarnate Word. Because my parents raised me with all their love and support, I can create freely without judgement whether that is fashion/art related or content creation related.

Frankie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When I first started posting on TikTok, I tried to create aesthetic posts for views which weren’t necessarily representing who I was. So one day my mind set shifted and I started to just film myself posting vlogs showing my personality. These types of videos made me feel more like myself. I may not have the most exciting life, but posting for myself has been much more fun and as a result my following and viewership increased. For those coming to my page, my goal is to create a platform of positivity and to make people laugh. I love being goofy with my friends and getting the audience to laugh because life is too short to not spread joy.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I would say the most important thing to build your audience on social media is to be authentic to yourself and post what makes you happy. A lot of people will say you need to find your niche and only post that whether that’s specifically cooking, makeup, fashion, etc. While part of this is true I found that when I tried to stick to one thing I became very bored and was not enjoying social media. Now I post what makes me happy. When you are showing the world your personality and posting for yourself, you can create a presence on social media and get viewers that are interested in who you are.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
There’s so many things I think society can do to support creatives and artists. For starters, I think creatives should be paid fairly. A lot of creatives are sometimes asked to work for “exposure” as compensation. I think if society respects creatives and their work as a labor it can help build their career. As a society, we can also support creatives by attending local events. This can include local fashion shows, theater productions, concerts and more. When we show up and support our local creatives we can help build a creative ecosystem that will thrive. Go out there and support your small businesses or creatives.
