We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Franki Love a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Franki , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents allowed me to be my “authentic self”. As an adult when I look back I feel extremely grateful that they let me be “me”. They never tried to sway me to be someone else. When I was 17, I expressed to them that I wanted to leave the state of New York to move to California for college. Although we were very close and loved each other deeply, my parents were supportive and excited for me to travel and explore the world. I always was fiercely independent and knew by leaving my home area, I would discover more about who I was. In fact, moving to California, I discovered that my purpose was to create music. If my parents had sheltered me or tried to control me, I can imagine, I’d have a job right now that I didn’t like and might be very unhappy. Because my parents gave me an abundance of freedom, I feel as though that has helped me evolve into a happy adult. Being happy to me is priceless. I am very grateful to them always for this. They are both in heaven now and I miss them. But my dedication to them is always living my best life because that’s what they wanted for me.

Franki , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a singer/songwriter/music producer/pianist. My direction in music right now I’d say is “healing”. I produced a series of new age/experimental albums over the past 4 years. Specifically, I produced an entire album entitled ‘”The Sun” which is all in 432hz. 432hz is a frequency in music that can help people feel less anxiety and feel more calm. I am creating many releases in this frequency to help people feel better. Currently I’m working on a new album called “The Stars” featuring GRAMMY nominated Michael Hoppe and Hans Christian that will have 432hz songs. Ultimately as a music producer and music artist the main goal I have is to help people with music. I receive messages from people who are unfortunately sick with chronic illness, cancer, anxiety and insomnia. When they tell me that my music helps them with their “well-being”, it’s truly a dream come true.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My story of resilience would be that I started playing coffee shops in Los Angeles. I’ve been to many record label meetings and have worked with Grammy wining producers and musicians. Performed gigs at all the happening venues. Honestly, when you’re starting out, it feels like you’re living the Hollywood dream. But honestly, most of it is all smoke and mirrors. Many people prey and try to scam artists. There is massive rejection in the music business, people who wine and dine you to try to steal your publishing, the list goes on. My resilience is I am still doing music after all of my experiences. Music is sacred to me and I’ve never let anything or anyone get in the way of my mission and respect for music.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is writing from a place of truth. I can write lyrics that are from my soul and share that with others. People who aren’t songwriters might listen and feel connected to me, even if we don’t know each other. The tears that someone cries when they’re alone, I will write about that feeling because I’ve been there. That feeling of wanting to give up but needing someone to tell you that you must keep going. I will write a song with the intention to help someone be strong and keep going. To me, that’s the greatest feeling. I’m writing songs to souls all over the world from my heart to theirs. I believe we’re all brothers and sisters and my music makes me feel united with humanity.
