We were lucky to catch up with Frank Tovar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Frank, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
When I first started with the company we were a very ambitious firm small in stature with a lot of heart. The vision was always to grow into a larger organization that would have multiple divisions that were very profitable and lucrative. One of the biggest challenges is not having the blueprint to scale the business due to the very niche segment that we are within real estate investing. Where does one start without a
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been in real estate investing for over 4 years and it has been an incredible journey. I started off by paying my dues and doing any and every single task that needed to be done to provide and prove my value to the organization. Gradually over time I learned many roles and eventually was entrusted with the entire operation. This is a testament to hard honest work and problem solving attitude. There were many challenges along the way that would have easily discouraged many individuals but you always have to look past the immediate roadblock and push your way up through the clouds so you can gain a true vantage point and make sound decisions.
I pride myself on being a coach that allows the team to grow within themselves by allowing them to be critical thinkers in order to solve the problem that is facing them in a work setting. The biggest gap that I see within any workspace setting is the inability to allow your team to truly grow without you needing to be the catalyst of every decision.
I am most proud that we have a culture that gives every Intrapreneur within our organization to fully thrive along with the possibility to earn what they feel their are worth or entitled to, we literally have no limits. This is what makes us and the culture that was created here very unique. Yes, we are real estate investors acquiring properties across the nation but more importantly we are wanting to change the landscape of Intrapreneurship and give these men and women an opportunity to create everlasting impact for themselves and those around them. When a team member joins our team, not only are will they learn how to do real estate investing, they will also learn skills and knowledge that they can apply in any business endeavor and excel in.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation was built by raw hard work and impeccable ethics. I am the type of individual that does the right thing when no one is looking. It seems like common sense but high ethics, honesty, and integrity are at the forefront of what I do everyday in business and my personal life. The last thing I would ever want is for someone to doubt my word which I have worked endlessly for.
When I give you my word or we shake hands, then consider it a done deal.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Empower your team to make decisions. Ask them what they think is the best solution and you will be surprised by the amount of critical thinking they have done to create a solution. I personally will always try it their way first in order to see another method that I had not previously considered. Being agile and telling the team that I personally do not want to make every decision has allowed us to grow exponentially. Also the team knows that they have a say and they can make a difference within the organization.
