We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Frank Sinclair. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Frank below.
Frank, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Day to day the world can seem like a tough place, but there’s also so much kindness in the world and we think talking about that kindness helps spread it and make the world a nicer, kinder place. Can you share a story of a time when someone did something really kind for you?
Growing up in poverty and segregation created a space of not being good enough. After sabotaging my eight year Air Force career I ended up as a homeless man on the streets of Colorado Springs. A man used to pass me daily as I slept under a bush in the park. One day he stopped by and asked me to tell my story. I did and he took me home with him. The kindest thing wasn’t the rescue it was the act of looking past the obvious and seeing value in me. I have carried and dispensed that message for the rest of my life.

Frank, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I acquired a business education while in the Air Force through the University of Maryland. After getting hired by Raytheon as Chief of the Fuels Division at the Air Force Academy, I began to nurture my love of personal growth through my love for reading. I have a 5000 volume library. My first experience found my being hired by Fortune 100 companies doing leadership development, diversity, emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication. Six years ago I started Dream Again to expand my career impact and influence of encouragement.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I continuously have to unlearn that my business is not about me. Our default is to insert ourselves into the narrative instead of focusing on those we serve. I have matured greatly here but it will always be something to deal with. I am fond of telling people the process of business is hard, incredibly hard and it needs to be because you currently have can and celebrates those that can. A great outcome for both. It’s incredible hard to tell someone that entrepreneurial ship is not there design but integrity demands truthfulness.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I am the sole founder of my business but have a vodcast called “The Be Encouraged Show with Frank and Lisa”, which Lisa Sinnott is my partner and cohost. I had her on my show when I was solo and my producer noticed the synergy and chemistry so I asked her to join me soon after. We now have a weekly reach of 40,000 and have a goal of 100,000 by April/May. In one of my online classes I teach, “A Partnership is the Only Ship That Won’t Sail”. But our partnership is flourishing.
