We recently connected with Frank Causarano and have shared our conversation below.
Frank, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
Looking back at over 20 years of self-employment experience and entrepreneurism I can definitely say there are two areas of focus that are essential to success and growth.
The ability to properly delegate to your team and embracing failure.
Whether starting a new business idea or launching a new program in an existing business, delegation and failure are key aspects to overall and long-term success.
Typically, the visionary has a very specific skill set that includes, big picture ideas and simplifying or multiplying results. Not necessarily the day-to-day functions and activities within the business. This is where a team and delegating can expedite results and ensure success.
Secondly, failure is a part of an entrepreneur’s journey. The ability to fail fast is critical. Often times I’ve held on to a project, business idea or program too long. Ultimately, the longer I held on, the more costly and time consuming the endeavor became. Putting a reasonable timeline in place is so important to any project. Once that timeframe is reached, we ask ourselves a question. Do we have a business, or do we have a hobby?

Frank, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Our Core Competencies are the same in all of our businesses. We approach every business with the same mindset. How can we create an experience for our customers and solve an issue they may have.
I’ve been self-employed from the beginning and have made a lifetime commitment to learning and longevity. My wife and life partner are in the emotion business.
We sell a feeling to our customers with products and services.
The garden center and brand, Anna’s Garden, Home and Wellness sells on-trend plants and flowers to hobbyists and gardeners across the country. Our gift and decor lines inspire and curate a holistic and trendy lifestyle approach for all walks of life.
Marlene and I are also in the short-term rental business. We offer waterfront housing, cars and boat and jet ski rentals to vacationers of all ages.
Belle Point Shores cottages and Tierra Verde Watersports are an emotional experience for our clients. We aim to stimulate a feeling and complete a vision for vacationers and users.
Our Entreprenurial journey has had many stops along the way. From fish to preserved flowers and champagne.
Teamwork and unique abilities are essential to any successful business. We’re blessed to have some great people standing beside us.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Creating and building a customer loyalty program is essential in any small to medium sized business. Whether your selling products or a service your relationship with your customer is so important.
When a customer gives you permission to market to them through a customer loyalty program, you’ve earned their trust and attention.
There are 3 ways to grow a business. Attract new customers, increase your average sale and increase the number of transactions with a customer. A loyalty program should incentivize purchases and create a rock-solid relationship between the business and consumer.
This is a win-win situation for the customer and the business.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients is by far existing clients.
We foster a customer service mentality within all of our teams. Then we create a customer experience from beginning to end.
The experience starts before the transaction. On trend branding will attract your customer and team training will create a customer service experience.
Also important is how you touch your customer after the transaction is compete. This could be a simple thank you, an educational follow-up about a product they’ve purchased, or a review request.
A complete customer service experience will always lead to further business and a happy customer. A happy customer will always refer you to friends and family
