We recently connected with Frank Bonincontri and have shared our conversation below.
Frank, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The two most important things needed as a photographer are your vision, and your gear. Investing in education should always remain a constant and without a doubt, the best investment. A few poor investments I made early on were purchasing the wrong gear for the job, and the “affordable” options as far as lenses for my camera. Don’t get me wrong, starting out the budget is always tight, you have to spend wisely and get what you feel is the best for you at the time. The biggest lesson that I learned was to obviously to go big or go home, but I would highly recommend growing with your gear and upgrading at every opportunity possible. Stepping up to the Canon RF L series glass took my game to another level as far as optics, but we all know better gear does not make you a better photographer. It’s all about having the vision to take what you see and bring it to life and telling the story. The biggest lesson I learned is to experiment with different lenses, camera bodies and composition. As I have grown in my approach and vision, my Canon lenses and camera bodies have also evolved with me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Frank Bonincontri and I own Street Official Media. I have had a passion for cars, racing and everything automotive since I was a kid. I know, everyone says that, but seriously, I am kind of obsessed. I enjoy all styles, all types of racing and really love the stories behind the cars. I am a freelance photographer and you can always find me at the racetrack or at a car show. I provide photography assets to clients that can include stand alone photos, digital media assets, social media content, video and much more. My attention to detail and aligning with clients vision is what sets me apart from others. I am most proud of the variety I can cover and what makes each of them unique. I am not the person who only covers a certain type or style. I have grown up on everything and therefore am extremely comfortable capturing everything from classic to modern, to exotic and everything in between. The same goes for racing. Last winter I was on a frozen lake in Wisconsin shooting motocross ice racing and then in pit lane capturing IndyCar racing in the spring. I thoroughly enjoy it all. I love talking cars and more and the DM’s are always open. You can follow on instagram and Facebook @streetofficialmedia

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me is the relationship made with clients. Sure, the cars are awesome and we captured cool photos, but, the relationship made and what I was able to learn about each client is by far my favorite. Whether we work together multiple times or not, it’s really fun to learn the backstory on the car, the team or the client. I am a people person and love talking cars.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Do the basics brilliantly. It’s pretty simple, just be genuine, be yourself and do the basics that most forget about. Be sure to follow up and stay in touch. Keep clients in the loop for upcoming events, specials and possible intrests.. Send that thank you card after the booking, call and talk to your client instead of texts and emails. Listen, understand and build something unique. I like to follow up via email, text, and through social media.
