We were lucky to catch up with Francisco Gomez Palacio VI recently and have shared our conversation below.
Francisco, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Since I founded Integrated, I have held the belief that it’s possible to surpass clients’ historical expectations of home improvement experiences through both digital systematization and thoughtfully curating a team that enables a positive company culture.
Equipped with this foundation, our mission is really all about executing personalized strategies that fulfill client-specific needs, making life easier for clients in what’s too often experienced as an unpredictable and tedious, but necessary process for homeowners.
Our client-facing mission is to:
Proactively foment a culture of positive client interactions & high-quality product standards.
Streamline & optimize our digital customer experience with available technologies, while exploring and creating new possibilities mid-long-term.
Develop a brand with which clients associate emotions like peace, calm, beauty, and serenity.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi, my name is Francisco, and I’m the founder and owner of Integrated Home Improvement. I was born in Mexico City and moved to Dallas when I was four. I grew up in the suburb of Las Colinas. I have a girlfriend, two siblings (bro/sis), and two dogs (Yorkie poo, and Hava poo). Currently, I live in Uptown. My favorite things to do outside of work are walking on the Katy Trail, having pool parties with friends, reading, and food.
In high school, I stained my parent’s fence, because they asked. I ended up painting 3 or 4 myself, and with a friend on one of them, with aim of earning enough money to buy a music studio. Eventually, I met a professional, whose services I sold door to door in my parent’s neighborhood, and that did pretty well and was able to buy the studio equipment. Then I went to college, and when I came back to Dallas, I was thinking about getting my MBA. But then one night, I was talking to my girlfriend about my old high school fence business, and it sort of clicked that it had done well then, and I could succeed at it again. In the following months, I picked up where I left off in high school, developing a passion for a new vision that also included kitchen and bathroom remodels as well as decks, pergolas, and design. I met some amazing people through networking, who have helped me tremendously in growing and developing the vision for Integrated in the short three years since it was formally founded.
Any advice for managing a team?
Morale is supremely important. Mindfulness in general, and particularly in regards to the team’s emotions, is the generator of the emotional data pool that informs how I lead.
I keep an eye out for signs that someone’s having a bad day, or if emotions are running a bit high or tense. I like to let the situation and that person breathe, so I step back in an effort to let a more opportune time arise to address the issue effectively with them. Even if subconscious, this is generally appreciated, and a morale boost. Caveat is that it’s not always possible to step back in a really urgent situation, at which point quick, yet calm and rational decision-making is essential.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Consistently thoughtful customer service, focused marketing, and a genuine effort to develop long-term relationships with clients past one project.
