Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Franchette Dyer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Franchette, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
My husband gave me $1,000 dollars to start my business and I have not ever had to ask him for money since, when it comes to my business. I was very proud of that, not because he would not help me but because I had to think strategically and be smart with all of my moves when it came to my small business.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Do you know how it feels to get the job of your dream and then your husband propose and move you to Germany all in one breath. This is what happened to me and I had to start over and learn the military life as well as find a new career. Along with my career, I started truly helping veterans and their families when I was overseas. As we moved around and returned to the states I had to figure out how do I keep my company going without closing it down. So, my clients actually helped me to keep my business going and then I started my own company as an LLC, but it was some ups and downs before it got to the point of being an LLC.
Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2015, I got in a car accident and had to give up my job due to pain in my back and neck. Once I got this under control, I wanted to go back to work and that is when my husband said do what you love. I thought about it for a split second and before I could say anything, he said, you should start your own business and I did.
