Alright, Francesca thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
In my business it’s all about connections and referrals. So we have to ask friends and family to support us by telling others about what we do, especially since they get so many perks as in their own homes organized.
Francesca, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
12 years ago when I got divorced, the real estate market crashed after my being in the Title business for 17 years. I stepped out on faith because my pastor told me to do something I was passionate about which was cleaning my friends closets. From there Perfectly Organized by Francesca was born. I was scared because I had two girls to support, but I was determined. At the same time, I started a blog called TreadmillTreats as I wanted to write of my journey coming out of a verbally abusive marriage for 24 years. All of this was new for me, but I wanted others to know they too could start over. My organizing helps people get unstuck, it helps them start over, and believe it or not, I have had many clients just coming from a divorce. Speaking with them, I help them feel like they are getting their lives back in order is therapeutic for them as well as for me.
I want them to feel good when they come into their homes, I want it to be their safe haven from the world and you can’t have that if it is cluttered.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My whole life is been about resilience. I grew up poor I had to work for all I got. I struggled to overcome abusive and drug addiction. Just when I thought I was seeing the light I found myself in a verbally abusive marriage for 24 years. I lost more people than any one person should have to go through yet I always try to see the bright side. I am always positive and I hold on to my faith that this too shall pass. I am resilient because I had no other choice.
Having to pivot was something I had to learn because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had to invent a new career, I had to walk away from a big lifestyle and business. I had to except the fact I got nothing when I left and he still had it all. I had to learn how to take care of me and my girls. I had to hustle and change my business plan when I realized that people only organize once or twice a year so what else could I add to make money. I think you have to be open to change, to turning on a dime and making the best out of what you have. That keeps you going.
