We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Francesca Potrich a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Francesca , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I love owning my own business! since you decide your times; Of course, I did think at one point of sending everything to hell; and think about just have a regular job; and not be worried if the import is delayed, if a coffee machine have problems or who takes care my business if I go in vacation?.
when you come from a school where your Italian father educates you with the thought of the 80’s where you shook hands and the business was already closed ahaha; clearly in these times you must take care of yourself in business.
I want people knows how to drink coffee, be it my brand or another, but that they can choose knowing what they are buying.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello! my name is Francesca Potrich and I’m in charge of the business in Miami; I’m wife, mom and boss! I studied public relations and I have knowledge of several languages such as Italian and English and Spanish.
I want to talk about the risk I took; when I decided to come from Chile with my husband to open my coffee import business.
Lucaffe, which is the italian brand, that I represent here in the United States, it’s a brand taking care of the well-being of the planet and the consumer; the machines that are imported are -the health machines- made with copper, silver and metals that don’t harm the consumer’s body; and the coffee is biodegradable and sustentable.
That is what has made me always keep going despite all the difficulties I have encountered along the way.
I saw the need of a company here in Miami that had: price, service, variety and quality both in machines and coffee; and don’t lock customers into long contracts of five to ten years; I’m of the philosophy that if your product and service is good, they should not change you.
Everything has gone quite well despite having arrived just in a pandemic; people love the product and service we provide.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
