We were lucky to catch up with Francesca & Nicodemus Piazza recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Francesca & Nicodemus thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Oh ABSOLUTELY! We wish we had started a lot of projects earlier. Not just our podcast, but our Tiktok, our comedy, acting lessons, really almost everything. And its funny because we always felt like it wasn’t the right time or that we just needed something, what ever it was, before we got started but that’s all really just an excuse. There will never be a perfect time. Its just a matter of doing it. You don’t have to have all the answers, ideas, and know-how to get started because then you never will! Just go for it- figure the rest out later as you learn and grow. The best time to start was always yesterday!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
At the heart of ‘The Saucy Sibz’ podcast are two siblings, Francesca and Nicodemus, who embarked on a journey that took them from the hustle and bustle of their previous lives to the picturesque mountains of Colorado. Our story began in January 2020 when we made a daring choice to leave behind our jobs and routines in pursuit of something more fulfilling and adventurous.
But, as the world knows, 2020 had its own plans, and our temporary adventure turned into three transformative years in the stunning Summit, Colorado. We found ourselves immersed in the local culture, working various industry jobs, and, surprisingly, discovering our passion for storytelling and entertainment.
What sets ‘The Saucy Sibz’ apart is our unique blend of sibling camaraderie, humor, and the unpredictable situations we often find ourselves in. Our podcast isn’t just about recounting stories; it’s about inviting our listeners into our lives, where we share our experiences, hilarious misadventures, and the joy we find in the absurdity of everyday life.
Our primary aim is simple: we want to keep people laughing. Through our podcast, we offer an escape from the mundane and a chance to join us on our rollercoaster journey. We’ve developed a strong bond with our listeners who appreciate the authenticity and relatability of our content.
What makes us most proud is the sense of connection we’ve built with our audience. Our podcast isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about forming a community of like-minded individuals who find solace in humor and shared experiences. We’re incredibly grateful for the engagement and feedback we receive from our listeners, which fuels our passion for creating content that resonates.
While we’re still navigating the exciting world of podcasting, one thing is clear: ‘The Saucy Sibz’ is a labor of love. Our podcast is a reflection of our lives, our love for food/drink/unique experiences, and our shared passion for storytelling. We’re excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity to continue bringing laughter and joy to our growing audience.
In essence, ‘The Saucy Sibz’ is more than just a podcast; it’s an invitation to join our saucy, laughter-filled world. We want potential sponsors, followers, and fans to know that we’re here to spread positivity, share stories, and create a space where everyone can laugh together. If you’re looking for a podcast that combines humor, authenticity, and a unique sibling dynamic, then ‘The Saucy Sibz’ is the place to be.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Believe it or not, our podcast actually started as wine podcast…. That was our idea at least and that sounds so funny to say out loud because our podcast literally have nothing to do with wine. However, it highlights a really important lesson about creative endeavors: Where you start and where you end up might be completely different and that’s completely fine! Its going to take awhile for you to figure out your lens, your angle, your *thing*, and for us with podcasting: our voice. These things take time and its always a journey of self discovery.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
In today’s business landscape, it’s impossible to understate the importance of social media. It plays a pivotal role in various aspects of business, offering countless opportunities, but it can also be incredibly overwhelming.
Starting our own podcast amidst a sea of talented, hilarious, and ingenious content creators saturating the internet was so incredibly daunting. Could we truly produce content that could stand shoulder to shoulder with the greats in the industry? It was a question that could make your head spin, and there were a million reasons to think small and contemplate quitting before we had a chance to truly shine.
At times, it felt all too easy to throw in the towel, especially when some people questioned us with remarks like, ‘What do you guys think you have to say?’ The criticism stung, and it would have been simple to give up. But if we had, we would never have had the chance to hear the recent comments that brighten our day, like, ‘Your podcast brightens my week, it makes me laugh out loud in public, and I love how much it reminds me of good times with my own siblings!’
One of the hurdles we had to overcome was the fear of being seen starting from the bottom. We firmly believe that to create something great, you have to start by making something not-so-great. You have to be willing to disregard the judgments and doubts of others and throw them to the wind. After all, how else are you supposed to grow and improve?
I think our podcast is a testament to our willingness to take risks, learn from our mistakes, and persist through challenges. We’ve learned that success often begins with the courage to start, even when it feels overwhelming. So, to anyone out there contemplating their own creative endeavor, we encourage you to embrace the process, celebrate your journey from the ground up, and believe in yourself. As cheesy as that sounds.
Our Social Media following has mostly been due to repurposing our podcast clips and posting daily to Instagram and Tikok. The most controversial or hilarious “our takes” on trending subjects seem to get the most comments which in turn shoots you to the top of the algorithm and results in more and more followers! So don’t be afraid to be yourself and push the boundaries, audiences are fatigued by the same safe narratives and they’re looking for a fresh and unique take!
