We recently connected with Fran Salmons and have shared our conversation below.
Fran, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
It came to me at church one day. Asher was one of the most beloved tribes in the Old Testament. The spirtual name for Asher is “happiness.” An anchor is used as a symbol of hope in Jesus that gives us stability and steadfastness in life. Being anchored in your faith is so important in a marriage. And so Asher and Anchor was created.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am the mother of two grown children and also a grandmother, one of my most cherished roles. I moved to Leander 7 years ago after residing in the Houston area for 17 years. I am originally from New Jersey so I’m definitely still a “Jersey Girl” at heart. For most of my career, I was an executive assistant / office manager in the oil and gas industry. One of my responsibilities was handling our corporate events and holiday parties. During one holiday event, one of my coworkers and his fiancee asked if I would be their wedding coordinator the following spring. Although I had never coordinated a wedding before, I was excited about this new opportunity, so I said yes! And that’s when I fell in love with the wedding industry! Their wedding venue owner was so happy with my assistance, that she asked me to return the following weekend, and then the weekend after that! It wasn’t long before I ventured out on my own coordinating part-time until I decided to coordinate full time and Asher & Anchor was born. Assisting people has always been in my blood. I am dedicated to my clients and always want them to know that this isn’t just a job for me — it’s my calling — to know that they can depend on me to ensure their wedding is everything they’ve dreamt it would be. I am most proud that I am always there for my clients. I respond to their inquiries in less than 24 hours, sometimes within minutes, so they know they are my priority no matter how many clients I may be working with at the same time.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being dedicated to my clients and showing that I truly care about them, that they are of the utmost importance to me. I also am very organized, disciplined and detail-oriented, a trait needed during my years as an executive assistant, that I am able to carry into my role as wedding coordinator. I started out in a field where there are many wedding planners and coordinators in the Austin area and knew that to stand out, I had to prove myself to compete within this business. Going into my 6th year of service, I am proud to say all of my reviews are 5-star reviews because of my commitment to my clients.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Referrals from past wedding clients. I always ask new clients how they learned about Asher & Anchor and I’m told they were referred from past clients from various Facebook Bride Groups , Reddit, and some were even guests at weddings I coordinated and were pleased with my services.
