We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fp3 The Legend. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fp3 below.
Alright, Fp3 thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
It’s never easy to truly take criticism, especially nowadays with social media giving pretty much everyone a platform to voice their opinions, whether they’re wanted or not. But one thing I learned growing up was to take leaps of faith sometimes because you never know what your outcome could be, I started putting out my music on SoundCloud back in 2017 and I would’ve never saw myself doing this full time and actually sharing my story with the world. As time went on I’ve been blessed with many opportunities such as headlining performances in North Carolina for “3pm Entertainment” and being featured on fat joes mixtape series back in 2020 during the pandemic. I realize how much further I have to get where I truly want to be as an independent artist but the feelings of taking risks always fuels me to give it my all and put my best foot forward.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Born in Brooklyn, Ny, I never truly understood how blessed I was with my circumstances, growing up around the corner from where biggie smalls grew up was just a small indicator for what was to come later on in my life. But things never started out with me rapping as I had a passion for many other performing arts such as playing the trombone, acting , singing, and pretty much any physical activity I can utilize my hyperactive energy towards. It wasn’t until the senior year of high school where I would partake in friendly cyphers with my friends and we all created artists names for each other, my name being “Fp3 The Legend” fp3 representing my initials and the legend simply a given moniker due to my ability to play basketball. It all started as a joke until I got my first chance to record a song and every single joke and laugh was shunned out as I had fell in love all over again with the music craft of writing and recording. Over time I would start writing songs for myself and other artists such as “Allen Mars”, assisting fellow collective member “Rellz Hundo” as he always gives me input and insight. I use music as my own personal tool to connect myself and others to each other because everything doesn’t have to be opposing whenever people don’t see eye to eye.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
It’s very simple, SHARE YOUR LOCAL ARTISTS WORK!!!!!! Too many dope artists in this day and age don’t get the proper recognition they’re owed due to not having necessary tools or connections to people who can help propel them to bigger heights. I just want to give a special thank you to my fellow artists rellz Hundo, Allen mars, Nate the Great, S.C.U.B.A, JV, Benji, Arthur, and many more well deserving artists as they all continue to push me to be at my very best and also share my work. I’ve truly grown apart of an amazing community of dope individuals and I feel like now is the time to give people their flowers before they take off in their respective careers.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal is to be recognized as a superior artists and not only for my work but my contribution to the music industry. I just feel like so many people chase the fame and fortune of the music scene nowadays but no one truly puts their love into their craft the way us local artists do because this is a lifestyle for most of us. Nothing is truly fabricated when you hear my music, as I give an insight to what goes on in my daily life, how I think, my romantic relationships, etc. I would be lying if I didn’t say I wouldn’t want to live comfortably off of my work but financial freedom isn’t the end goal because there’s so many ways to make money nowadays I truly do this for the love of it!!!!
