Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Forest Quaglia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Forest, appreciate you joining us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
Film sets can become tornadoes of chaos at the drop of a dime. There is usually a large team of hard working artists and creatives running around trying to pull the Directors vision into frame. Countless moving parts at all times.
On my recent project, Map Heist; there was an unexpected hurtle that almost derailed our first day.
The morning of our first shoot we found out the tire of our boat trailer had blown. Our picture boat was stranded off the highway 45 minutes from set.
Our entire day was prepped for being on the water & boat. We spend the next hour trying to get the boat toed and pulling favors to get a last minute boat.
We got lucky, fining another boat and ended up shooting most of the day as planned. I’ve learned that unexpected hiccups and the need for last minute problem solving is very common in show biz.
Forest, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Im an actor and film producer from Boston, MA. I started acting in 2019 and started my production company, Forest Quaglia Studios in 2020.
FQ Studios focuses on creating and producing narrative films which feature my self in starring roles. I created my studio to create opportunities for myself and other upcoming artists from MA to be cast in fun and exciting film projects.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The reason I became an actor and filmmaker was for the adventure. The idea of traveling the world, making new friends and living within all the different experiences involved with playing a character is what motivates me. Im always chasing the next big adventure, personally or professionally.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When I created my film studio. Acting is a ruthlessly challenging and competitive field. After a year or two of auditioning with almost nothing to show for it, I decided to start my company. I used it as a tool to build experience and elevate my craft. After producing and starring in a series of films, I’ve found many doors opening.
