We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Forenzik Styles. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Forenzik below.
Hi Forenzik, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
As an Independently represented Artist in the music Industry, it can be challenging to have the same reach as I would have with different Resources. That being said, I think I benefit from having other sources of income that allow me to focus on the intention behind my writing and stay true to the directions that I want to go, sonically.
I don’t feel the same pressure to conform to something popular and rush my songs or copy someone else. For that reason, I can take advantage experimenting with new and different things as my sound grows. I have always held a firm belief that art is more important than “content”. Being able to express myself in ways that move others has been the most inspiring part of the music I make. I’m doing it for me, but it means so much to me when other people connect with it. I had someone reach out to me from India, to tell me that one of my songs “changed their life”. That meant the world to me.
It feels like we live in an era where sincerity is not valued anymore. I feel nervous and vulnerable when I put out something new that pushes the envelope, or is very open, or is a departure from what people are familiar with. That’s part of how I know I’m doing something right. My most recent album “From the Future” is the peak of leaning into my strengths and allowing myself to explore my sound.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been making music since I was a kid but I’ve been doing it seriously since about 2012/2013. I’m very proud of the production work I’ve done for other Artists, and my desire is to do as much of that as I can, but my own music has brought me a real sense of creative and personal fulfilment. I worked on my Producer Album “From the Future” for years and was able to take a back seat on my writing, and collaborate with some my favorite Artists on the vocals. That let me check both those boxes.
The music industry is inherently predatory so it can be difficult to navigate if you don’t have a sense of how things work. My clientele is creatives in the Hip Hop and Alternative spaces so there are a lot of different personalities to manage when you’re collaborating on something.
I excel at producing good records and doing what’s best for a song or album. In some cases I’ve had success pushing Artists outside their comfort zone and putting them on beats they may not have thought to pick, but the results are gold. It’s a special feeling when you play a beat and an Artist reacts like they won the lottery.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think it’s the fact that I’m a fan and supporter of the people I reach out to. I support other people making interesting art and I’d like to think they see the vision when I want to collaborate. I don’t want to take something FROM them, I want to build something WITH them. Mutual respect has gotten me far and allowed me to work with some great rappers, singers, and musicians. It helps that I’m good when I’m producing a session. I give insightful feedback and I know when to not say anything and just let it ride. It also helps that I Audio-Engineer all my own work, and I always have a clean mix. It could always be better though.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had my own space and more gear earlier in my career. I think access to more instruments and amps and synths would have been great, but I’m doing all that now. More than anything, it’s about finding the time to work on those skills and put in the work.
