We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fonda Cash. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fonda below.
Hi Fonda, thanks for joining us today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
I was living in Colorado, a state that completely shut down due to Covid and I had to fly to Florida to work in order to not be homeless. As a result I must have two homes in order to keep my residence in Colorado. The music industry has been suffering ever since the “pandemic”. I personally flew monthly and witnessed every flight full with no social distancing. I watched my home state Co get shut down but big corporation chain restaurants and all airlines were allowed to remain in business as the rest of us suffered. Only one state allowed people to work and that was Florida, were our governor stood strong against an entire nation and said he refused to shut down and hurt the people by not allowing them to work and provide for their families. If it wasn’t for Florida and DeSaints I’d would be homeless and not been able to sing and support myself with my music career.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Fonda Cash and music is part of my DNA. My father was Bobby Cash a rockabilly artist signed to King Records in the early 60s. I grew up surrounded by music and singing with my father. Quit school at 15 years old and joined a rock band called Barely Legal. I am a professional singer/songwriter and have put out several music videos, all can be found on YouTube under Fonda Cash. I owned a music school called Fonda Cash Music where I developed and managed young talent for several years, then I decided to create the Tribute band Petty Nicks, the iconic tribute to Tom Petty & Stevie Nicks where I play the role of Stevie Nicks. We are a six piece national touring band with my son Mike Cotoia as our drummer and Billy D Lindley portrays the late great Tom Petty. I personally do all of the booking, marketing and promoting for our band. When not touring with Petty Nicks I have a trio named Triple Threat featuring my son Mike, partner Billy and myself. We also have a disco show called Boogie Shoes and do several other tribute style projects. I work four to five shows weekly and promote, market and book us 7 days a week. It’s exhausting but I love what u I do and wouldn’t trade my job for any other (except maybe owning a non profit an animal sanctuary),

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being honest, dependable, having an amazing band that’s on point and true to the artists we cover, remaining humble and kind to all who come to our shows and making our fans feel like they matter and we care about them. Facebook has also been an amazing marketing platform to help us reach the masses.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
My band took a huge risk in fall of 2022 and decided to book a tour from Florida to Michigan renting theaters for our show. It was a huge loss because every other state other than Florida was in a huge recession due to the pandemic and my partner and I lost 50k. It was a wonderful experience touring with our band and we learned a lot but lost 50k. My partner Billy and I decided to not call it loss and decided it was better to call it an expensive learning lesson.
