We were lucky to catch up with Florida Palmore recently and have shared our conversation below.
Florida, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
At the young age of six I was intrigued by all the characters I saw on television. My Grandmother told me they weren’t really policemen or lawyers or whatever it was I was watching, but that they were actors. Once I understood that Actors could be all those things I saw on television, I knew it was the career for me.

Florida, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Florida (like the state) and I’ve been acting since 2001. Some would say I’ve been acting my entire life but it wasn’t until I moved to Texas, started preforming in front of an audience and portraying different characters that I truly started. I’ve done everything from stage productions, tv, commercials, film and even stand up comedy. I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams but after about a year I found myself back in Dallas. Once I moved back to Dallas I found myself working an ordinary job that I used as my excuse to not pursue my dreams. Thankfully in 2023 I was asked to get involved again and I haven’t stopped since.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
This question is simple for me. I want to be among the best. Long after I am gone I’d like to have my work live on. To have my family name live on.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career is FREEDOM. Now don’t get me wrong, there’s still so many challenges and struggles but doing what you love creates a sense of freedom. Every time I’m on set it’s like my worries, if I have any, are gone.
