Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Florence Anderson-Simms. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Florence, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

In the year 2020 the pandemic brought the world to a hault. I was an Educator for many years and also a licensed Massage Therapist part time.. My business was mobile at the time; where I would go to clients home and businesses to do massage services. Just before the pandemic occurred I wanted to have my spa business full time. However, I wanted somewhere my clients could come to. get the experience. Then the pandemic happened. Everyone was stressed and anxious from not knowing what will happen next. Covid was at an all time high, so I could not see my clients. Brain stormed how I could service my clients without being able to have physical contact with them. I. started to teach classes online how to destress and strech at home. My clients was thrilled to have some results. When my state opened back up in 2020. I spoke with a friend that was also in the massage and wellness industry looking to expand her business about opening a facility together. Few months later I took the leap of faith and opened Flowing in Harmoni Spa in Clermont, Florida. It was a risk leaving the Education Sector where it was my comfort zone and did it for so many years. However, the wellness industry was my new calling. The risk has been worth it. My clients love that I take their wellness journey seriously. Getting to the ” root” of the issue is my concern. I have gained many new clients since opening in August of 2020. Flowing in Harmoni Spa is active in the community by giving massage treatments in the schools, hospitals, church,Relay for Life and Retreats. I give selfcare baskets to battered women and massage so they can exprience safe touch. I still get to educate by teaching the benefits and importance of massage and selfcare routine.

The lesson I have learned in taking this risk is “you never know what is in store for you until you try”. There may be barriers however, you will get over it. .

As a business owner we take risks everyday by making decisions that will impact our businesses. My goal as a small woman owned business is to always take risks that will make me and my business evolve.

Flowing in Harmoni Spa is wellness spa located in Central Fl.. The spa began on the idea that wellness should be intentional. We treat the whole person, mind, body and soul. I believe that health and wellness is a state of complete harmony where the mind and soul are balanced.

Our main goal is for each client to leave with an experience and results. We pride ourselves in taking time to listen to our clients needs. While educating them on the matter at hand.

As a pain management specialist I specialize in pain relief in various dimensions, from acute to chronic pain.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

In my business what has helped me grow has been word of mouth. My clients get results from pain to stress relief. They are excited to share with their friends and family. Treating my clients how I would like to be treated has helped as well. Too often we go to a place of business and you feel rushed or feel like your just another number. Listening to my clients needs and concerns is important in my business. I also promote on social media with how to videos building a connection with my audience.

I am involved in my community therefore, my business name is recognized.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?

If I had to go back I would choose massage therapy. This career has connected me to so many wonderful people. I have gain knowledge of the wellness industry that has helped me personally and professionally.
