We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Floraina Three Hawk a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Floraina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
As a young girl I knew I wanted to be a part of the medical world, my grandmother was in nursing and care giving and I looked up to her and my mom, as she also did care for the elderly. My hopes were in the surgical world. I dreamed of being a part of drastic healing in another humans life. On the other side I was very different from other people, I was born to see and feel other peoples pain and sickness in their bodies or emotional body. This helped me be more aware. I was taught at a young age to work with plants and energy to help heal sickness within myself and also create positive energy in my body. I went to school and chose to do surgical technology, the fastest way into an operation room. I loved being a part of saving lives and helping people heal, but something was always missing, and my natural gifts were itching to be used. Growing up I had to deal with several healing moments in my own body with cancer or pre cancer. Not many really know this about me as I chose to be silent in my healing journey and keep things close to my heart. These in my opinion can happen when the body has a combination of right genetics, poor health either physically, mentally or emotionally. Being raised in trauma in all three forms, I started my battles with the big “C” ; officially when I was 16. I was 26, when one day while working and headed into surgery I fainted and the next day went into surgery for myself. I was working 20 hours a day and being the best I could be but at the same time I didn’t know what it was doing to me. So when I made it through everything and finally got back on my feet, I decided things would change. I was going to honor my root teachings and continue to learn everything I could from mentors who would show me the ways.
I spent almost two decades learning and devoting time. Even though what I do as a native Indian medicine woman was back in the day Mis-understood by the people of this western world, I worked in silence only by word of mouth. I started working less in western medicine and more in my spiritual practice. Always by word of mouth and for donations. I felt a great urge to let go of the years in surgery along with the safety it provided with money in order to fully immerse myself in my spiritual practice. I retired myself from full time surgery and left for more training and simple living in the jungles of Peru. I let everything go and honestly it was the best decision I ever made. I still work for donations and word of mouth. I can truly say I have met the most amazing people, I’m extremely grateful for every encounter. I love and appreciate what I do and even though the life and the living is not as glamorous as my fast pace and high end surgical position, I’m so very deeply happy I took the leap to change my life and do what I love. Now I utilize all my natural gifts by energetically helping my clients move trapped energy working with the nervous system. I also work to move emotional energy in the body guiding the client to heal themselves. I use native prayers, ceremonies, and traditions mixed with some modern ways to assist with movement in the clients emotional, physical , and mental bodies. There is no basis in religion nor do I make anyone do anything I can’t explain both physically and psychologically. I truly poor love into every yazhí (spiritual child) of mine I look at everyone as if I were their mother no matter the age. Helping to support the movement within them and sharing my love for their humanness. I will always be proud of letting fear go and doing what i love, it was worth the risk in every way.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started doing small healing work at a very young age, using the energy I felt in my hands to relieve pain in others. Over time, I developed my skills in reading energy and communicating with spiritual guides to help provide clarity to those I worked with. As I shared my gifts with others, people began to gravitate toward my work.
It took many years and the guidance of mentors to reach where I am today. I feel that I will always be a student of this beautiful practice and will continue to expand my knowledge.
Some of the main services I offer to my clients include the release of trauma and stagnant energy from the body, as well as Native American-style prayers for blessing and healing that help elevate one’s vibrational energy. I also utilize my knowledge of plant medicines to assist with personal growth and internal healing, helping individuals connect with their own energy and power.
I take great pride in how loved my clients feel. My genuine desire is to bring out the best in every single person I work with. The most rewarding experience for me is when they truly sense that love.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that honesty and transparency provide clients with a sense of control, enabling them to make informed decisions. Coming from a medical background, I approach every interaction with great care and a solid knowledge base. When I work with someone new and they experience a profound breakthrough or session, they often share their experience with others who may benefit from my services. This organic and beautiful exchange of experiences has fostered a steady and natural flow of growth for me. While I do have a website and social media presence, 98% of my clients come from referrals by those I have worked with. I am truly grateful for those who feel strongly enough to share my information with their loved ones.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I would certainly do it all over again; however, I would take even more risks and dive deeper. I strive to give my very best to each client and am always seeking new knowledge to aid in my growth and development, which ultimately benefits my clients by allowing them to experience the best version of me. I am incredibly grateful for the work I do and wouldn’t have it any other way. It is my greatest purpose in life to walk this path with those willing to sit with me.
