Hi Flip , thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
A big risk I’ve taken is leaving the corporate world. I have extensive sales experience but I have been doing things like Uber and part-time gigs to keep the lights on at the moment. I’m used to having more money than I presently do lol.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a recording artist and a songwriter. The mission is to make impactful contributions to our culture. You get a little bit of everything when you listen to Mr. Flip’s music. Everything from hip-hop to house to jazz to r&b to funk to soul. I try not to limit myself to just one genre of music. There’s no rules to creativity. As long as I’m happy with what comes out I’m confident the listener will love what they hear. Real music is back.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is the work. That’s where the magic happens. I enjoy the process of creating, all parts of it. Another thing that I find really rewarding is collaborating with your peers. As in many cases with life, two minds is often better than one.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal is excellence. The mission is to bring back real music by both doing my part in creating it and by helping other artists get heard.
