Flavian and Concetta , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When you were first starting out, did you join a firm or start your own?
Starting our own travel page was a natural occurrence for us. It simply made sense, given our love of travelling and photography. We both love to travel and see the world and capture what we see with our own eyes, in the form of beautiful, breathtaking photos. We also had a goal to work for ourselves, and creating our own page to share our travels with others was something we knew we wanted to do. While we are still working full time, the goal is to make Coasting Paradise our only focus as we continue to grow the brand. In retrospect, we absolutely think it was the right choice to start the page and start our own endeavour so that we can be free to travel and go on adventures as we see fit.
Flavian and Concetta , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are Coasting Paradise – dedicated to sharing in our love for travel, adventure, food, and culture through social media. We got into this business because of our love for travelling and capturing and sharing memories. We provide our viewers with a platform to see all of the places we have been to, get inspiration for their own travels, or simply share in joy and love we derive from seeing the many diverse cultures and places around the world. We are most proud of being life, and business partners, that get the pleasure of sharing the diverse places we have travelled to and all of the great memories we were able to capture.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Our goal is to be able to travel and upload content full-time. We are currently employed, working demanding jobs where finding time to build our own brand can be difficult.
We do our best to persevere and work on growing our brand and delivering content, even though we often come home tired and stress from the regular work day. It can be difficult to come home after work, look after your regular responsibilities and then edit, plan, and prepare travel content. We are also limited as to how much we can travel throughout the year because of our employers.
Despite this, we are still committed to developing our brand to grow to a capacity where we would be privileged to leave our current career paths and do this full – time. We do our best to focus on the end-result of having a successful social media presence online and try not to get bogged down by the bumps in the road that may come along the way.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We try to focus on high quality content that resonates with our audience and are constantly fine tuning our own unique approach to the travel space. We try to build content that is meaningful to us and also appreciated by our followers, leading to increased level of natural growth. We will also use built in advertisement platforms to help cater our content and deliver it to specific target markets that we believe will connect with the content on a deeper level. One space, other than Instagram, that we have entered is Tik Tok @coastingparadise. Here, we have found a different way to showcase who we are – a more laid back, behind the scenes version of us. Our audience can see us creating memories in moments during our trips or simply being silly at home, while we plan for our next outing. Building your audience takes time and sometimes can come with bits of small growth over a longer period, which can become discouraging. But don’t get discouraged, every bit of growth is a step forward and can teach you so much. Each time you post is a chance to go viral or catch traction with a larger audience of people. So keep pushing forward, stay focused but all the while have fun and enjoy what you love. Some advice we would give while growing your platform is we recommend staying away from any third party “follower booster” services that are often fraudulent and frowned upon by most social media platforms.
