We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Flash Reneau a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Flash, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

One of my most meaningful events to date was when I was able to DJ 2 days at the Special Olympics.in Los Angeles, CA. It was a cool experience and a tremendous honor to be able to what I do and bring joy to the athletes and onlookers. After my sets, it was flattering to be asked if they can take take photos with me.

A high point was when the Caribbean countries asked “…if I could play some Soca music…” That’s RIGHT up my alley!!!! I couldnt wait to get back on stage & bring the #TPGXperience. Once I dropped that first song & continued with my Caribbean set, the whole front of the stage became a ‘fete’ LOL To see the Olympians partying together while I was DJing is one of my proudest moments as The Party General!

Flash, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m based out of the entertainment capital, Los Angeles, California.

Being a Belizean, via New York City and Los Angeles, I’ve been able to grasp my calling and take the family talent baton and find my niche to reach both an American and Caribbean/International audience.

My talents ranges from being a Celebrity Emcee, an On-Air Radio Personality on “Feel Good City Radio Show”, Host of my new TV Show, “Spin City: The DJ Chronicles” and of course, the DJ/MC, “The Party General” !! This combination of getting people on the dancefloor with the unique mixing of genres from the latest Urban and Pop hits to Caribbean vibes of Soca, Dancehall and AfroBeats to Reggaeton, Merengue, Punta, Brukdown along with the spontaneous MC skill set to get any event turned up another level, has given birth to the movement called the TPGXperience.

I am most proud of being able to use my God-given talents to bring people joy. I’m also proud of being able to grow my brand and switch from genre to genre, DJ to MC to TV host. It’s a fun experience I don’t take for granted!!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a DJ/MC/TV Host is I have the opportunity to bring joy & entertainment. I’m all about being positive and having a good time. Always want folks to enjoy themselves. I can do that as a DJ/MC by not only playing the latest hits but showcasing my mixing skills that makes people smile & wanna get their groove on!!!!

Being a TV host is another aspect of my arsenal as an entertainer which I don’t take likely. I feel we have a responsibility to use our God-given talents to be a blessing to others.. My current TV show, “Spin City: The DJ Chronicles” on Urban Soul TV Monday Nites, is an opportunity for me to showcase my fellow DJs who may be familiar to alot of people and some .who can use some exposure and a spotlight. So as the “mayor” of Spin City, I get to use my platform to elevate other DJs while simultaneously educating and informing my audience about the DJ culture and life of a DJ.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My mission or goal(s) that drive me is what I often share with people about why I’m always doing something related to the #TPGXperience brand. I have to keep going until I don’t have to introduce myself!!! The mission is to become a household name for good reasons. Yes, it’s better to be talked about negatively than not to be talked about at all however, I want my name to be mentioned due to the enjoyment and energy I bring whenever I’m performing.
I’m not globally known as of this interview. The financial security has not been achieved nor has the consistent bookings in ideal venues has been been met. So, the grind continues!!! Each day that I am blessed to be alive, is another step closer to achieving my goals. And along the way, I’m appreciative, thankful & excited with anticipation of all the blessings God has in store for me!!!!
