We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Flash Reneau a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Flash, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

Being The Party General has been an evolution. Going way back to my Grandfather then past down to my dad & now to me. Entertainment is in the genes. My grandfather was a playwright, director, singer, dancer, choreographer, set designer and more in Belize. They even sent him over to Englandas their prize jewel to showcase his talents. My father gravitated towards entertaining by becoming a DJ early in New York City..
For me, it was natural to become a DJ. Performing in stepshows, dancing in movies and videos, Emcee numerous events and weddings & more! So entertaining, performing is in my genes!!

Flash, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Flash aka The Party General, the 4-Star DJ/MC, is based out of the entertainment capital, Los Angeles, California. The multi-talented disc jockey enjoys being the party peoples’ DJ!!! Being a Belizean, via New York City and Los Angeles, Flash has been able to grasp his calling and take the family talent baton and find his niche to reach both an American and Caribbean/International audience. The combination of my background along with my Emcee skillset and love for entertaining has given birth to what i moniker, the “TPGXperience”.
Everyday I’m always growing The Party General brand. Never satisfied because there are goals that have not been reached yet. So there is always work to do.
I’m most proud of how I’ve been able to grow my brand. Continually to evolve creatively and being a sponge. I’m always open to networking, expanding where I can bring my DJing talents and most of all, satisfying my consumers. Nothing better than getting feedback of a job well done!!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

What drives me is I’m not where I want to be. I love the quote from Jay-Z that I use for inspiration. “….I have to keep grinding until I don’t have to introduce myself…” To me, this means, until I become a household name. Until my face is enough for access. Until The Party General is on the levels of world-renowned DJs, I have work to do….EVERY day!!! Can’t stop. Won’t stop.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a DJ is knowing you were able to take people places of euphoria, enjoyment, happiness & joy. For a brief moment in time, the crowd is able to forget any problems, hurts, obstacles, stress due to how I was able to make them feel by playing music they enjoy. This, is priceless!!! I take what I do seriously. I respect the DJ craft. It’s a responsibility to serve the people who not only hire you but the audience as well.
