We were lucky to catch up with Fjolla Nushi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Fjolla, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I’ve had the privilege to be a part of is undoubtedly my brother’s debut feature film, titled “I Love You More.” This project holds a special place in my heart not just because of its artistic value, but because it is deeply rooted in our family’s history and personal experiences.
The backstory of “I Love You More” is a poignant and emotional one. It’s a story that draws from our own lives, capturing a crucial chapter of my brother’s adolescence and his journey in understanding the complexities of love. At the heart of it, the film is about young love, but it’s also about the sacrifices and choices we make in pursuit of that love.
What makes this project especially meaningful is the fact that I was not just an observer but a participant in the real-life events that inspired the film. It was a time when our family had won the green card lottery and had the opportunity to start a new life in America. However, my brother was facing a dilemma that weighed heavily on all of us. He had forged a deep connection with another boy he had met online, and this first love of his was pulling him in a different direction, away from the opportunity that lay ahead in the United States.
The situation put immense pressure on our parents, and we were all navigating uncharted waters. The tension and uncertainty of that period tested the bonds within our family, making it a challenging time for everyone involved. However, it was also a time when we all learned valuable lessons about love, choices, and priorities.
Years later, my brother channeled those experiences into a beautiful screenplay for “I Love You More.” As the producer of the film, my mission was clear: I wanted to ensure that the story was told in the most authentic way possible. It was not just about making a movie; it was about preserving the essence of our family’s journey and the lessons we had learned along the way.
The film not only captures the intensity of young love but also delivers a profound message about the importance of family. It is a reminder that, ultimately, family should always come first. Through the lens of this story, my brother’s growth and realization become evident, and it’s a message that resonates deeply with me as well.
“I Love You More” is a testament to the power of storytelling and how it can illuminate the complexities of our lives. It’s a project that has allowed us to share our personal journey with the world, in the hope that others may find solace, inspiration, or understanding in their own experiences. For me, it’s not just a film; it’s a reflection of our shared past and a celebration of the enduring bonds of family.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an actress with nearly 22 years of experience in the industry, and my journey has been marked by numerous transitions and transformative moments. I embarked on this path while attending a professional arts high school in the city of Peja, Kosovo. It was there that I took my initial steps as an actress, and by the time I reached my senior year, I was already traveling regionally and internationally as part of professional theater productions, all while juggling the demands of high school. Looking back, it was a unique and enriching learning experience that I cherish deeply. In our small class of just seven students, we formed a close-knit family as we honed our craft.
Following high school, I continued my education at the University of Prishtina, located in the capital of Kosovo. Over the course of four years, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Acting, further honing my skills and expanding my repertoire. However, a significant life-changing opportunity arose when my family won the green card lottery, leading us to make the momentous decision to move to the United States.
This transition was a major turning point in my life and career. Moving to a completely new place with its own set of rules and dynamics presented its challenges, but it was also a fresh start. In college, I had the chance to work on TV shows, sitcoms, and more theatrical productions. However, upon arriving in America, I found myself starting from scratch, rebuilding my career from the ground up.
My journey eventually brought me to Los Angeles, where I secured representation and began auditioning for various roles. While navigating the competitive landscape of Hollywood, I always felt a strong connection to my roots in Kosovo. I frequently returned to my home country to take on roles in local productions, keeping my ties to the theater and film scene there alive.
In addition to my work in theater and onscreen, I ventured into the world of filmmaking. I had the opportunity to participate in short films and TV pilots, and a significant milestone in my career was producing my brother’s debut feature film, “I Love You More.” This project was not without its challenges, but it was an immensely rewarding and educational experience. The film, based on a true story from our family’s past, has already begun to gain recognition, and I’m excited to see where it takes us in the future.
Reflecting on my journey, I’m proud of the resilience and adaptability I’ve developed as an actress. I’ve embraced change and grown as an artist through each transition. What sets me apart is not only my dedication to my craft but also my ability to bridge cultures and bring authentic storytelling to the forefront. I’m passionate about creating meaningful and impactful work that resonates with audiences across borders.
I’m driven by a deep love for the art of storytelling and a commitment to authenticity in my work. Whether on stage, on screen, or behind the scenes, I’m dedicated to bringing stories to life and making a lasting impact through the power of storytelling. Who knows what the future holds, but I’m excited to see where my career takes me next.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative lies in the incredible power of storytelling to connect with people on a deeply human level. We are all unique individuals with our own life experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds. Yet, at the core of our diversity, we share a common thread: the fact that we all have a story that shapes who we are.
As an artist, I have the privilege of delving into the depths of these stories, whether they are my own or those of fictional characters I bring to life. What’s truly special is that through the act of creation, I get to share the richness of these differences with others. I get to express the beauty and complexity of our individual narratives, and in doing so, I can touch the hearts and minds of those who engage with my work.
In every audience, there may be someone who, in some small or significant way, resonates with the stories I tell. They may see a fragment of themselves in a character, a moment, or a theme. That connection, that feeling of being seen and heard, is what makes being an artist so incredibly fulfilling.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Certainly, I can share a story from my journey that illustrates my resilience. Working on “I Love You More” was an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding experience, but it also posed significant challenges that tested my determination and commitment to the project.
The film was deeply personal, as it was based on a true story from our family’s past, and it marked my brother’s debut as a feature film director. While this personal connection added a layer of emotional depth to the project, it also made it challenging to navigate the boundary between my personal life and the art we were creating. At times, it was difficult to detach myself from the real-life experiences that inspired the film and focus solely on the creative process.
To add to the complexity, I was facing health issues during the production. Despite experiencing excruciating pain and needing antibiotics, I made the conscious decision not to share this with my brother or the team. It was essential to me to see this project through to the end, and I didn’t want my health challenges to disrupt the process or create unnecessary concern for my family.
My resilience in this situation came from a deep commitment to the project and the belief that the story we were telling was important. I wanted to ensure that we could bring this meaningful story to life in the most authentic way possible. So, despite the physical and emotional challenges I faced, I pushed forward, channeling my determination and resolve into every aspect of the production.
In the end, we successfully completed “I Love You More,” and the film has begun to gain recognition and success. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of storytelling and the importance of persevering through adversity to bring meaningful projects to fruition. It’s a testament to the resilience that artists often need to draw upon when faced with personal and creative challenges, and it’s a reminder that our dedication to our craft can lead to beautiful and impactful outcomes.
