We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fioriana Larche. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fioriana below.
Fioriana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
2 words, your mindset and your network.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Fioriana Larche. I am a graphic and architectural designer and photographer from New York. LNY initially began as a hobby, and it has evolved into a business. Today, LNY is a creative design and product studio. I design across disciplines, using my camera and photoshop as my primary tools to create posters, album covers, creative images, and clothing. I also work with many start-ups, and individuals to provide graphic design and photography services. I am extremely proud of the relationships I have cultivated throughout this journey. It is a testament to my work and motivates me to keep learning, sharing my art, and growing my business. I want my work to serve as a reminder that art and design are all around us and affecting our lives. Art and design have the ability to make our lives better and I hope to harness that power and foster that belief system with LNY.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I received my first camera as a gift, so I essentially started this business with zero dollars. I raised capital by offering services. I got paid for various prints and photoshoots before purchasing business cards or a website, etc. To this day, I have never paid for marketing of my business. All my business has been through meeting people and networking.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
When I traveled with my family I would take photos of the different scenery. After one trip, my mom’s coworker asked if I was selling prints of the photos I took, and I said yes! After selling a couple of photos, I began to take photography a bit more seriously. I watched about a thousand videos on youtube and started taking more photos and practicing editing techniques. When we didn’t travel, I would go into Manhattan to take photos. However, in Manhattan I found the people a lot more interesting than the land or cityscape, so I started taking street photos of people. When I moved to Miami, people from college saw my work, and asked me to take personal portraits or photos for events. I had to learn various adobe programs for architecture school, so when the pandemic hit, I was able to leverage my knowledge of graphic design and take my business to into another realm – in addition to starting an apparel line. March 2023 will mark the official 2 year anniversary of LNY. As of today, I have built a team of talented people, increased sales, and established long-term collaborations with various companies. I will always look for ways to improve my business and I look forward to seeing how LNY will evolve.
