We were lucky to catch up with Fiinskyy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Fiinskyy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Art has always been an emotional and needed outlet for me. Over the past few years my interest in art became more serious as I started viewing it as a future career instead of just a hobby. I get a sense of urgency when I start a new project. This feeling overwhelms me with a deep sense of purpose and spurs my mind with questions and a desire to know more. Everytime I create it’s always fulfilling. I don’t worry about other people’s parameters and rules for success. It amazes me when people have a connection with my work and enjoy it. I feel extremely privileged to be able to make a living creating art.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started out by painting my own personal apparel and getting compliments as well as people inquiring about where I bought my clothing. This sparked an idea in me to build a brand that I had always wished existed. I began selling items to friends as a low cost. Their excitement and sharing of my craft soon created too much work for me that I had to increase my prices to keep up with demand. I later experimented with different wearable items and this has exploded into my current brand where I create custom clothing by painting on anything from hand sewn bags to vintage trench coats. I love experimenting with different techniques, textures and patterns to create something 100% unique for every work. I know my pieces stand out from other brands because of the emotional responses I’ve gotten from my followers. And many requests for custom works. This is what inspires me to keep searching for new inspiration and projects for future clothing collections.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creator is my ability to influence and encourage other people along their journeys. I think this is especially important because I want the platform to have a clear message. Anybody that wants to be an entrepreneur should know that it’s totally obtainable. You shouldn’t ever feel like your style may not be what other people enjoy. Just know that somebody will relate to your passion and once you find that niche that’s really all you need.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
For me, it was during my middle school years after I had learned the basics of education I realized everything that I was learning came from somebody that thought that they were right. I soon discovered that if I was passionate about something, somebody else would probably have the same sentiments and be able to get behind what I was doing as well. This is usually how businesses start and certainly how mine did. Just one person with a great idea, can inspires other people to make something even greater.
