We recently connected with Fernando Hernandez and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Fernando thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
I actually never thought my business would launch this far. It all started in 2017 when my family decided to go to Florida for a vacation. We had a small Kodak camera to take our family photos. The camera was showing signs that it wasn’t gonna last very long. So I had the idea to buy a better camera for our photos. I had very little knowledge of photography at the time, but I knew how to take our family photos. Well now it’s time for our vacation and I started playing with certain modes and settings of the camera and took pictures of the seagulls, the ocean, and anything I could perceive as a good photo. After the vacation, I decided to upload the photos I had to my personal Instagram, I gained some great traction with them. Then decided to test it on my friends and family. Once I got the hang of the camera I went to a great mentor of mine who then helped me with editing processes and how to make my photos better. I never knew I’d gain clientele so early on. Over the next few months, I practiced on mostly friends, then decided to look for influencers that could help me with more interactions on my posts. I then learned of DTXStreet, they have been a huge influence on my photography career. Over the course of the next year and a half, I mastered editing and perfected my skills as a photographer, from there the rest is history, I launched my business after 2 years and now have some great clientele and great reviews from past clients.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Fernando Hernandez Jr. I am the owner of Hernandez Photography Inc. based in Dallas TX. What was supposed to be a “hobby” turned into a career that would launch my business and make me have great clients. I offer basic photography packages and depending on the event or theme I offer different and affordable pricing. I’m very proud of the way I express myself through my work and hope to make every client happy and accepting of my work.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist in this industry is the motivation of making people happy and grateful for my services. Knowing that I can make someone’s day even better by providing an excellent job at doing photography brings joy to my heart. Being a creative artist isn’t just about making great and beautiful art, it’s about making others happy and turning heads with your work.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
For me, the best way I built my reputation is through word of mouth and my Instagram profile. While word of mouth reaches far better clientele, having that social media aspect helps even more with getting reached to the right people. You network and socialize. Most of my clients and great reputation came from their comments and helped me reach a bigger audience and a better reputation in this competitive market.
