We were lucky to catch up with FERNANDA GIRALDI recently and have shared our conversation below.
FERNANDA, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share a story with us from back when you were an intern or apprentice? Maybe it’s a story that illustrates an important lesson you learned or maybe it’s a just a story that makes you laugh (or cry)?
So, I actually don’t know, because it’s been one and I have Fer I’m in this exchange program called Au Pair, so I don’t know if you too sure about the exchange about the Albert program, or if you want me to tell you about when is specific experience. Anyways, I will be happy to help with both. I do have so many stories because I mean you can imagine, you’ve been to a country that you barely know the language you don’t know the culture and you are learning everything from the beginning etc. it’s been crazy haha

FERNANDA, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So my name is Fer Giraldi, I’m 24 years old, I am Brazilian from south Brazil and by now I am in the exchange called Au Pair program where you come to America and leave it for his family meanwhile take care of their kids. It’s a good deal for someone who wants to starts to explore the world. That’s my case haha. Since I was very young I was the weather to travel and know other places, I just an at Tracy Quay I always wanted to know different things than the most popular places of course the most popular places to but also how people leave there, how is the life they are how different is the life there you know?! Where are I am from from a reach family, I didn’t think so much about it so I went to a tech high school where I graduated as a teacher, after it I went to law school and during the pandemic I discovered about the au pair exchange, and then all the things I used to dream about came back to my mind and seemed like the world was open for me. I could finally start to LIVE into the world. So I quitted law school to come here, and its been a great time of course but also very hard, meanly in the beginning. Imagine yourself going far away from everything you’ve always knew as natural, all the people you know and the place that has been your home for your hole life… The feeling is like you’re being born again. You have to learn how to express yourself, share your thoughts, opinions, disagreements and agreements in a totally different language, with slangs, expressions… Meanwhile you’re taking care of kids! haha Its definitely hard, but also the most amazing experience someone can have!!

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
It’s not easy! You’ll feel dumb, frustrated, you’ll cry in the shower and feel exhaust after a sample conversation! You’ll make silly mistakes and think “omg why do I keep forgetting it” and feel dumb when someone treats you like a kid. But its normal and this is how you learn! Make fun of your mistakes and surround yourself with people that makes you grow!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to get to know as many places, people, cultures and have as many experiences as I can meanly for me, my personal grown of course, but I also wanna show people how big and different the world is, how many different worlds ( I mean ideas and ways of live) we have in this planet and how there is a place for everyone! I wanna show that if you’re not happy with who you are and where you are now its possible to move and change! Its not easy but totally worth it. The world is so SO big for you just stay in a space that you don’t fit just because you’re afraid. I wanna show this path for everyone.
