Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Felix Sierra Polanco. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Felix , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I learned it all on the way, I never went to an art school, I haven’t had a teacher or a tutor, it’s all been by asking, talking, searching, reading, investigating, consuming magazines, books, movies, conversations, experiences.
Consume less drugs and partying (of course, maybe those drugs and parties were important at the time to express everything I was feeling).
Believe more in my ideas and take more risks, taking risks is very important.
Discipline is fundamental to achieving it. I’ve always said that I prefer to collaborate with disciplined people rather than geniuses. Besides discipline, faith in yourself is key, if you don’t believe in yourself, you’re lost.
Fear always tries to get in the way, but maybe we need to see fear more as an engine, something that pushes us… I’m afraid… maybe we should do it more often until the fear goes away.
Drugs and my insecurities, it’s important to believe in yourself

Felix , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When I was 30, I was working at an advertising agency, and I often asked myself how I saw myself in 10 years, what was my dream? What did I want to do for the rest of my life?
I didn’t know what I wanted… but I knew what I DIDN’T want… I didn’t want to work for the rest of my life at an advertising agency, no matter how many awards, money, or recognition I earned, that wasn’t my goal. I was looking for something that would drive me to get out of bed every day excited to work, and I wasn’t finding that there.
So, over time, I started drawing, tattooing, designing, painting, in general, creating.
I can paint, draw, tattoo, edit and make videos, write, layout, and design.
Types of products I offer:
Paintings, ideas, hand-painted clothing, tattoos, design… actually, I could offer any kind of service around the creation of ideas.
I help my clients represent their ideas with my graphic line.
What sets me apart from the rest is my graphic line, the materials I use, my methods, customer service, my graphic and ideological narrative.
I am proud to believe in my ideas, the memes I make, my paintings, and, in general, being able to connect with different kind of people through graphics and ideas. I also love continuing to believe in my ideas and dreams over time… it’s easy to dream when you are 15 years old but at 40, it’s a different story, considering the world we live in, which forces you to pay rent and bills that get more outrageous every day, at the end you are not dreaming, you are just paying your bills

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
What I value most as an artist is the ability to connect with different people through my graphics and texts, to be able to convey a message that somehow helps or motivates humans to keep going, to wake up, to get out of bed with a desire to live and dream.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I am Colombian, I know a certain part of the culture of my country. I started developing a graphic line that included a whole world with scenarios and characters. Over time, the characters started talking, discussing existential topics of humanity, life in reality.
These drawings, which I call memes, are an image with a text that tells a story. People in my country started sharing them, and the numbers began to rise… But it wasn’t just about posting memes. I believe social media is a more 360-degree topic… you have to cover all angles: stories, posts, reels… telling 360-degree stories that connect with people through recognition, through the audience’s identification with them
