We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Felix Dang. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Felix below.
Felix , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
I think the only thing I would change is to let students know that even though education is important, there are many ways a person can become financially stable. Learning a skill or a trade at times can sometimes better the person of their learning skills. One might not be able to sit in a classroom for hours. But if skills are more hands on more student would be better to pick up on skills.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Felix Dan I want to co-owners of HTH wood and wine here in the US. We make custom wine/spirit cases for the wine and spirit industry. This business was a family business that took route in Vietnam about 20 years ago. As a business expands we want to branch into the US market.
I’ve been in sales in the Hospitality business for about 20 years. I need focus for the business to create custom products for their wine business.
One of the main issues we had in starting the business in the US was we started in the height of Covid. Which really put a damper on our international shipping. Prices for shipping were extremely high. And in order to stay in business we switch from wholesale to consumer sales.
But I am most proud of today is that this is a Family on Business a partner and I are the ones you talk to. We believe in our products and quality.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
How was the restaurant business for about 20 years. At the 2020 Covid test, my boss closed his business. It was definitely an eye opener as to where or what I wanted to pursue next. So my partner/cousin approach me and asked if I wanted to get into the wholesale business shipping products from Vietnam to America.. It was definitely a learning curve learning all the rules and regulations for import export shipping logistics and overall day-to-day business..
That was my pivoit into a new career.

How’d you meet your business partner?
What parts cofounder Is my cousin. So it was easy to go into a business when you already know a person. I think in any type of business you have to have trust, communication and Consistency for a partnership to work.
