Felicia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

Drinks on Fe was birth out of a divorce and I was struggling financially. I never considered being an entrepreneur. I’m very creative and I was doing everything under the sun from doing hair to decorating various events bur Things had gotten so bad that all I had left was my faith in God. I went home one evening and had a full-on breakdown. I literally fell out in the floor kicking and screaming, praying and questioning God about how I had done everything right and still ended up in that situation. I asked questions like how he could give me all these talents and none of them helps me generate wealth. I begged him to allow me to utilize my unique gifts to provide for my son and myself. I got up off the floor and grabbed a note pad that I had on the side of my couch and began to write and draw, I wrote for about 5 mins. when I was done, I realized it was a full business idea. I closed my notebook in an attempt to collect myself and process what I was sitting in front of me when my phone rang. I had missed a few calls from a good friend of mine, and she was calling again. I picked the phone, and she asked me if I had read her text message. I had actually looked at it earlier in the day and had not had a chance to open it. I apologized for the delay and explained to her what I had just experienced. I told her the business plan and the explained to her that I was uncertain the idea for me because I was in ministry and not sure how this would affect my life. She told me to DO IT and if I didn’t do it she would lol… She proceeded to tell me a few things I needed to do to right away. One step was purchasing a domain name before someone else did. In the process of completing my purchase the there was some questions I needed to answer. I reached for my notebook and with what was already written I was able to create a website within 7 to 10 mins. One week later I was in bartending school.

Who and what is Drinks on Fe? Drinks on Fe is a Mobile Beverage Service. We offer, bartending service, cocktail making classes and Fruit Honey Teas.
Felicia’s passion for serving people not only led her to a professional career as a Public Servant for The United States Government, it is also the tool that catapulted her into entrepreneurship in ways she could not have imagined. Through hard work and determination, A Minority/Female Business “Drinks on Fe LLC” (affectionately refers to as Drinks on Fe’s Fruit Honey Teas) was birthed out of a genius creation while participating in a food/drink festival for her church’s anniversary. The tea was such a great success, and in high demand, inevitably she couldn’t produce it fast enough for the growing clientele. A vision became a reality and is now a thriving success!

Fe is confident that God’s plan and purpose is to use Drinks on Fe’s Fruit Honey Teas as a vehicle for generational wealth!

Drinks on Fe’s Fruit Honey Teas are produced in small batches & handcrafted with love, fresh fruit and honey, to deliver an authentic, refreshing taste that stands out from all other brands. For her brand, Fresh Fruit and Honey is a non-negotiable! Fe believes that there’s nothing better than the natural taste and properties of honey, and the delicious flavor of fresh fruit. Therefore, she uses honey as an alternative sweetener while most beverage companies use artificial sweeteners and flavoring. And also, fresh fruit is a must to reduce the higher sugar content that simple syrups often contain. Fe loves the taste of tea so much, it was the obvious choice for her business endeavor.

Currently, Drinks on Fe Fruit Honey Teas are available in three flavors: Peach Honey, Pineapple Honey, and Mango Honey. All three teas are delicious alone, however, for additional refreshment, “spirits” can be added for adult enjoyment.

Fe’s Fruit Honey Teas have been served to the masses and requested by many throughout the Chicagoland area and surrounding states. Drinks on Fe’s Fruit Honey Tea’s has opened doors for Fe that allows her to give back to the community, sponsor other entrepreneur events, serve the homeless, and to support various back to school events for youth. She is determined to “pay it forward”.

Additionally, Drinks on Fe LLC was the recipient of the “One Chicago Business Hall Of Fame” award for outstanding performance in community service and business leadership. Drinks on Fe LLC was sponsored by Uchicago to provide teas to over 500 members of the community; Drinks on Fe LLC Served at corporate events such as PepsiCo; Drinks on Fe LLC Serviced Radio host/personalities AC Green and Sundance and Grammy award nominee DJ Terry Hunter, Stella Award Winner Jabari Johnson, Todd Dulaney, and a host of others.

Drinks on Fe LLC is flourishing and growing, and is committed to employing other single mothers, helping the less fortunate and being a resource to other entrepreneurs.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

A time I had to pivot in my business was during the pandemic. Once the pandemic hit and the world closed down I had to figure out a way to keep my business going and keep my products in front of people. I created a social media cocktail making class. I would go live from my bar in my living room teaching a live audience how to make specialty cocktails and how to make different cocktails using Drinks on Fe’s Fruit Honey Teas. My viewers enjoyed it some much it they would come to my home to pick up the mixed beverages and my sales increased tremendously.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

Communicate with your team, offer bonuses and allow the teach to make suggestions on how to improve the business as a whole. Celebrate the small victories and make sure every team member understands they’re a valuable access in achieving business goals.
