We were lucky to catch up with Felicia Streeter recently and have shared our conversation below.
Felicia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
In the government contracting industry, having the ability to read and understand the scope of work within a solicitation and then being able to price out the work and see a profit once the project is complete is a big challenge I see.
Felicia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was prompted by a former Women’s Business Enterprise National Council president and former Small Business Administration 8a business opportunity specialist. to teach other small and minority business owners what I’d done to take my business from $23 thousand to over $7 million in 18-months, how I received my 8a certification within 90 days, and how I increased my capacity with the help of a mentor. In a nutshell to teach others how to be successful as a government contractor.
The services I provide are one on one private coaching, one-day intensives, the Contractors Edge Bootcamp courses, and the Government Contractor Accelerator a group program.
I equip my clients, minority and small business owners, with the strategies and tools to win government contracts by positioning, performing, proposals, pricing, partnering, and pacing, Felicia can take your business from your first contract to six figures, to a million-dollar year, and to million-dollar contracts in record time. I help my clients to win government contracts.
What sets me apart from others is I took my company from $23K to $7 Million in 18-Months, received my 8a certification on the first try, and within 90n days – unheard of!! I used other’s resources: people, bonding, tech, and experience to win multi-million dollar contracts AND made them my subcontractor. They set in the #2 position. I give you answers to questions you don’t EVEN know to ask. My company won the Small Diversity Business of the year award and Diversity Top 500 African American Businesses in America.
I help people change the game for themselves, their families, and their generations to come.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When we started my construction company, we started out with modular construction. After researching the federal government market we realized that getting into design-build projects would limit our competition to four other companies that had the same capacity as our company. So we did a pivot and found our sweet spot in the market and it was next level from there.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The main platform I’ve used and still use today to bring in new clients and grow my company is YouTube. If you’re just starting out and looking to build your presence on social media, I’d recommend YouTube. It allows you to build the like, know and trust faster with people because they can see and connect with you.
