We recently connected with Felicia Jarrett and have shared our conversation below.
Felicia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope my legacy will be a name in every household, business, and town. I want to be a brand that people recognize as pure excellence. I want to leave my children and grandchildren with a name and a business that they can be proud of. I want to be the first person in my family to create generational wealth. Growing up I didn’t have much my parents were struggling and we were poor, but as a kid I didn’t know that. I didn’t feel the struggle but looking back I know it was ruff. I know up to this point we have done a better job to creating the legacy of our name then my parents. I want my children to do a better job then we have and so on and so forth. Legacy is not always all about money or how rich you become but what you can do within your own family to make it rich with love, culture and what you can do within your community to help make it a better place. When I say I want everyone to know our brand that doesn’t just mean wealth, but it does mean the good we have and will do in the future for our community and the world.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a wife and a mom first and foremost. I have three children and have been married for 24 years. I have worked in many areas throughout my life, I was a hairstylist for 10 years, makeup artist, and radiology technician. I have always been creative in the sense of style and design so I do not feel that what I am doing at this time is not out of the ordinary for me. My family and I purchase a home here in Colorado Dec 2019 and I quickly realized that we needed things that we couldn’t afford at the time. I started by purchasing stools from Facebook marketplace for $5 total. I recovered those chairs, stained them and used them until we was able to do better. I needed a tabe for my husband to used in his man cave and there was wood left by the previous owners in my backyard. I watch a few videos on how to construct a table and made a coffee table. At this point I had the bug and I started watching videos and learning all that I could. Then proceeded to build my first patio set. I would post pics for my friends and family to check what i was doing out, to my suprise ppl told me to sell my work. I did some research on how to sell online and that lead me to open an Etsy shop and Cuztom Solutions was born.
Cuztom Solutions provide custom solutions to your everyday home and office needs providing furniture, and art services to clients. I make custom abstract art pieces. I pick up furniture pieces , refinish, restyle, rehab them and sell them online. I take commission work where a client has a piece that they would like to keep but it needs and update. I also take on commission work where the client asks me to find what they want and I refinish it for them. I also have inventory that clients can purchase for customization and I build furniture pieces for clients as well.
The problems that I solved for clients is giving them something that didn’t know they needed. I create pieces that clients can use for a lifetime, pieces that they can proudly show off in their homes. I give them a supreme, superior experience that can’t be obtained in a furniture store. I give them the input that’s needed to make informed decisions about their piece and allow them to be apart of the process every step of the way. I feel like my attention to detail, listening skills, and delivering a organic, honest experience is what sets me apart.
I am most proud of always learning new things and not being stuck just doing one style. I am proud that I can adapt and pivot to fit the clients needs no matter the style, time, technique, or era. I want ppl to know when you hire Cuztom Solutions you will get a superior, well thought out, custom piece made with LOVE. We are a small business looking for clients who appreciate beautiful pieces that are custom to fit what they have in mind. We don’t mass produce so everything is different in some way. I know there are sentimental attachments to some pieces that clients own so we take extra special care to pieces when the arrive at the studio. I am an artist and It’s my job to create a unique and exciting experience for each and every project.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am still new to the market I am only about 3 yrs in business. But I have been reading from reviews and comments from clients are the pin point attention to detail that I provide, the neatness of my work and the speed in which I complete a project.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I was a professional hairstylist as I previously stated, so I had to unlearn that it’s a new day and business is conducted in a completely different manner then when I built my clientail from the ground up. I felt that if I did it then i could do it now which was not 100% true. I can do it but it has to be in a different way so I am unlearning the old way of doing business (for me) and leaning the new way (for me.)
