Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Carpino
Hi Felicia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always knew I wanted a career in health care, but it wasn’t until my first few years of university where I was introduced to Naturopathic medicine. I wanted to be able to treat more than one area of health to people and provide more natural alternatives. My values aligned with the Naturopathic principles and this was confirmed when I has success as a patient myself with my Naturopathic Doctor.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I had several moments where I questioned if this is what I wanted to do and if I could succeed. I failed several times, both in school and in the licensing process. Because of this, I had to re-do a few examinations and procedures in order to complete the requirements. Now that I am fully licensed and practising, there are different obstacles to overcome, including running your own business and being your own boss. This is not an easy profession to get in to and be successful in, but I am constantly learning of new ways to grow and develop my practice.
As you know, we’re big fans of Dr. Felicia Carpino, ND. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a Naturopathic Doctor practising in Wasaga Beach, Ontario and virtually for all Ontario residents. I offer Naturopathic consultations, where we explore your full health history, presenting concerns, different areas of health including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual and then develop a personalized treatment plan to support you. I also offer physical examinations and bloodwork requisitions when needed, as well as acupuncture, electrostimulation and cupping. On top of this, I am a Doula where I get to support moms through the labour/birth/delivery experience and any pre- and post-partum concerns. I have a special interest in women’s health, hormones, digestion, metabolic and mental health. I pride myself on my individualized approach, each visit and plan is highly personal to each person.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned along my journey is patience. Both within my career and my everyday life, I am always thinking ahead of what is next and what needs to be done to get there. Because of this, I tend to miss the bliss of enjoying the moment and being patient for what is next to come. I am still working on perfecting this, but it is something that I had to learn the hard way in order to understand fully. With time, hard work and dedication, comes success and enjoyment!
