We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Federico Peri. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Federico below.
Federico, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Looking back, I wouldn’t change the timing of when I started my business. I launched it in the late 2010s while I was working for an Italian architectural firm, and it felt like the perfect moment to embark on a new adventure. The decision was driven by a deep passion for design and, perhaps more importantly, a strong desire for personal change.
If I had started sooner, I might have lacked the experience and skills I gained from my previous roles. Those experiences were crucial in shaping my approach to the business and helped me avoid mistakes that could have occurred if I had jumped in too early. On the other hand, starting later might have meant missing out on the timing that ultimately worked in my favor, and I’m really satisfied with how things unfolded.
Overall, I believe the timing was just right for me. It allowed me to bring the right mix of experience, passion, and energy to my business. While there’s always the curiosity of “what if,” I’m confident that the path I took was the best one for my journey.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Thank you for the opportunity to share my story! I’m Federico, and my journey into business began with a deep passion for design and architecture. My career started in 2007 and eventually led me to work for an Italian architectural firm. This experience was pivotal, as it not only honed my skills but also inspired me to launch my own business in the late 2010s.
My business focuses on design services, offering interior design consultancy and product design across furniture, objects, and lighting. I’m dedicated to delivering tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of my clients while also reflecting my own design tastes. I also design new products for design companies and galleries. What sets me apart is my ability to blend creative vision, balancing contemporary innovation with historical design elements.
I’m particularly proud of the various collaborations and awards I’ve received. These recognitions validate the vision and effort I’ve poured into my work, reassuring me that my journey has been worthwhile.
For potential clients, I want them to know that we bring immense passion to every project, whether it’s a small detail like a handle or a large-scale commercial interior. Our dedication to understanding our clients—whether they are private individuals or design companies—goes deep, allowing us to truly grasp their DNA. I’m here to create timeless design solutions that will endure for generations.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has simply been the design industry itself. I’ve had the opportunity to work on several projects for companies ranging from the global coffee brand Nespresso to the trendsetting “Baxter Made in Italy,” as well as smaller Venetian glass companies. Often, new clients have approached me after seeing the successful outcomes of these collaborations.

Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
It happened in 2013. I had opened my studio three years earlier, but I wasn’t exactly where I had envisioned myself. Running a studio—like any business—comes with fixed costs that were starting to become a burden. I decided to shift direction slightly by following a great passion of mine: product design.
I showcased some of my projects at a design fair, and they caught the attention of Nilufar, an international design gallery based in Milan. They asked to exclusively represent my work, and that became a turning point that allowed me to break into the market I had always aimed for.
