We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Federico Laboureau. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Federico below.
Federico, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
As human living in circle where we are expose to high prices to maintain our lifestyle.. its difficult sometimes to say no to some projects because everyone has bills.. but… in the middle of the rush of work it is important to find those project that means something and bring love to the soul
Federico, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am originally from Argentina, I started studying Fashion design 22 years ago, in a market where all the brands copy paste from other designers and felt trap in a place where I decided to be but not to deal with. So I started producing photoshoot, doing styling and then I start growing in the area to create the sets for the photos, the windows displays for the brands.. and I jumped into the art world. Where I feel more happy because it is not just about to dress a person, it is more about to create a universe. Get inside the people minds and try to discover layers to replicate those ideas or thoughts.
So after moving from Argentina to Mexico City, I landed in Los Angeles. First years working wise were fine but was more about to set my mind into a new culture, a new economy. But after 8 years living here and having my American Passport I can say I am leaving my American dream. With my husband bought a house, that allow me more time for myself, with my animals, my orchard understanding that this is how I wanna live
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There is a Documentary. the name is HEAL. and thought me to leave healing and uninstalling the energy that don’t belongs to me. And changed my mind in the personal and work side. Because thought me how everything is a lesson.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I am a very colorful guy who believes in Magic, sometime my work is an extra from somebody else vision, but I always try to be colorful and optimistic with the color palettes I proposes. My industry is full of real content and sadly real content is always associated with pain, drama, murders, so if I could bring a little of magic and happiness through my sets and creations makes me happy
