Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Fauzan Jam’an. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Fauzan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Yes, I have indeed been able to earn a living from my creative work, specifically in logo design. Of course, I can share my journey with you. Before I started as a logo designer, my wife and I ran a laundry and catering business for students. During that time, I felt a deep concern for my wife who had to exert a lot of effort to help support our family. I thought hard about how to ease her burden. Then it struck me—I remembered my passion for drawing from my school days.
I began researching ways to monetize my drawing skills and decided to pursue a career in logo design because logos are a form of art that is simple yet memorable. I started by learning about the golden ratio and color management through YouTube videos. While studying, I also participated in several design contests on various websites. After three months, I won my first contest with a prize of $50. This victory motivated me to dive deeper into logo design.
Then, COVID-19 hit, and our laundry and catering business came to a halt. This forced me to take logo design seriously as my primary occupation. At that time, I worked all day, driven by the necessity to pay for essentials like electricity and internet bills. This period marked a significant milestone in my journey to becoming a logo designer. It was about doing what I loved—drawing—while also providing for my family.
Reflecting on this journey, I realize that the process couldn’t have been expedited, even with the knowledge I have now. Understanding how to solve clients’ problems and refining my logo design skills is a journey that takes time and cannot be rushed.

Fauzan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Professional Logo Designer. The services I offer include, of course, logo design, as well as stationery design and other graphic design services, although I primarily focus on logo design. The problems I solve are ensuring that my clients’ businesses are visually recognizable and stand out among similar businesses, thus helping them to grow. What I take pride in most is providing clients with satisfaction through the ‘unique face’ of their business

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a logo designer is, of course, the satisfaction of my clients and seeing my work come to life in the real world. Because , I always work with softfiles.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Raising initial funds for equipment. Yes, it was quite challenging. I had to borrow a laptop from my nephew, which I eventually paid off in full after six months. I saved on all family expenses, such as monthly groceries and electricity-intensive appliances, and limited my children’s allowances.
