We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Farshid Shafiey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Farshid below.
Farshid, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
one of the most favorite project that I worked on is a Book Named ZAHAK, Is about a very well known Myth ofClassical Persian literature. my book is an adaptation based on the original story, I tried to interpret the fight against ZAHHAK to a civil protest. in this story a character named Faridoon rebels against Zahhak, endearing this fight the troops They don’t trample the flowers, this is a symbol of civil protest in my mind, But Zahhak’s troops don’t care about anything.
After the war, the winners punish the losers, and the losers are forced to plant 100 flowers for every flower they ignored. so I punished the losers in a very civil way.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Art is the most rewarding human activities, for everyone but for me is more than rewarding I can make a living with my art, I am a professional artist, and make a living with art is the best wish with an artist can imagine, you can suppose that your life has something valuable, and there is nothing more than this you can make meaning by your art and you can suppose that your life is not wasted.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The most characteristic element of Farshid’s work is “playfulness,” as he describes it. Drawing inspiration from Susan Sontag’s notion that “sanity is a cozy lie” to define the Camp philosophy, Farshid sees playfulness as redemption in his work.
