We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Faron Rashelle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Faron, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I grew up around music, so it’ has always come naturally to me. Everyone in my immediate family can sing and play at least one instrument, so music was just part of our everyday life. Blessed! I was also surrounded by it through church and gospel radio since my dad has worked in radio my whole life.
Looking back, I probably could’ve sped up my learning process if I had taken my own music more seriously earlier on instead of treating it like a casual hobby. The most important skills for me have been having a good ear and being teachable by staying open to learning from others.
My biggest obstacle was simply not realizing how much potential I had and waiting longer than I should have to really invest in it. Once I did, everything started to come together.
Faron, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Faron Rashelle, an R&B artist from Little Rock, Arkansas. I’m also a proud new mom to a beautiful baby girl and a radio professional with a degree in broadcast journalism. So, storytelling and sound have always been a part of my DNA.
I grew up surrounded by music, so it’s always come naturally. But I started taking it seriously when my friend KG reached out and suggested we record a song. That moment was the spark that started my journey as an actual artist, creating and releasing original music.
Through my music, I aim to create what I call “musical therapy”. Something that meets people where they are emotionally. Whether you’re healing, reflecting, or just vibing, I want my songs to feel like me and my team (The Kosher Sound) are right there with you.
What sets me apart is the intention behind every track. We don’t just make music to have something out, we pour our hearts into it. If we don’t feel it, we don’t release it.
I’m most proud of how far we’ve come, both individually and collectively. We’re not just talking about making music, we’re doing it. We’re sharing our ideas, pushing through fear, and being brave enough to put them out into a world that will always have something to say.
That’s what I want people to know about me and my brand: it’s driven by authenticity, genuine vibes, and all the feels.
And stay tuned! I have a new EP dropping this fall. It’s different from my usual because I have feature artists on every track, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we created.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Becoming a mother was definitely one of the biggest pivots in my life. It shifted everything from my schedule, my mindset, and even my motivation. Before, I was so focused on the grind and getting everything perfect. After having my daughter, I learned to move with more purpose and grace.
Motherhood forced me to slow down in some ways but also made me more intentional about how I show up in my music and in life. Now everything I do both creatively and personally comes from a more grounded, purposeful place.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is putting my music out there for whoever it’s for. When someone says a song helped them or even just made them smile, it reminds me why we do this. Performing and seeing people sing along melts my heart, but nothing beats watching my daughter dance or nod her head to my unreleased songs! That’s when I know we’ve made a good one.
